Better Call Saul - Season 5 Trivia Questions

1. At the start of the episode, Jimmy tells Kim what really happened when he collected the $7 million in cash. What does he tell her Mike used to kill the men that ambushed him?

From Quiz
"Better Call Saul" S5:E10 "Something Unforgivable"

Answer: Sniper rifle

Two episodes prior, S5:8 "Bagman", showed Jimmy picking up the $7 million in cash that was left by the Salamanca twins to bail Lalo out of jail. Shortly after Jimmy drove away with the cash, he was ambushed by about seven men with machine guns. Just before they were to kill him Mike opened fire with his sniper rifle from a distance taking out most of the men. One of them got away until hours later when Jimmy created a distraction so that Mike could finish the job. Both Jimmy and Mike hiked through the scorching desert until they got to a truck stop and got picked up by Gus Fring's men. When Jimmy got home he fabricated a story to Kim that his car broke down and he had to hike back. He fabricated a similar story to Lalo in the season finale that Lalo did not believe but Kim eventually convinces him and he leaves. After Lalo leaves Jimmy tells Kim the real reason why he was delayed bringing back the cash.

2. At the beginning of the episode, a barefoot Lalo was reading a newspaper and laughing. What story had tickled his funny bone?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.8 "Bagman"

Answer: Los Pollos Hermanos Fire Ruled Arson

Lalo was still in prison meeting with Saul, and when Saul asked what he was laughing at, Lalo said, "You wouldn't get it". The article he was reading was titled "Los Pollos Hermanos Fire Ruled Arson". A picture of the restaurant was displayed with the caption "A burnt-out shell is all that remains of the Los Pollos Hermanos off Manning Street in Los Lunas, due to an incident now being investigated by Los Lunas Police and Fire Departments". The article was only shown briefly, but it did mention that there had been other property damage in the area over the past three months, including arson, so perhaps Gus Fring selected this location to blow up because it would be considered another random act of vandalism rather than a targeted hit against his business. As mentioned in the quiz for the "JMM" episode, an abandoned restaurant was used to film the explosion/fire; it wasn't computer-generated.

3. The episode "JMM" started with Kim and Saul's wedding. Who served as a witness to their wedding and offered to steal a wedding ring for the bride?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.7 "JMM"

Answer: Huell

While Saul and Kim were filling out the paperwork, Huell called Saul aside and asked if he needed to hold the rings. When Saul told him there were no rings, Huell offered to get "a nice rock, probably about a half a carat" from a clerk downstairs. When Saul declined, telling Huell it was a different kind of wedding, Huell then suggested they "do it up right, for the rugrat". Saul explained, "This is a legal arrangement. This way, if I get into trouble, they can't make her testify against me", and when Huell asked if Kim was going to be a McGill or Goodman, Saul bluntly said "Wexler". Huell looked disappointed. He looked happier during the ceremony when he snapped a couple pictures of the wedding kiss. Series co-creator Peter Gould was nervous about Saul and Kim getting married; he didn't want the ceremony to "end up being sappy or cute". But he was pleased with the way that director Melissa Bernstein filmed it: "I like the fact that you see people getting married at City Hall... They're saying it's all for legal reasons but then there's that great moment when they're facing each other. There's a lightness to it, a connection. I just love it". On the "Better Call Saul" fan forums, several people commented on Kim's lack of a middle name, particularly as the judge pointed it out during the ceremony. Is this a bread crumb for a future episode?

4. The opening scene of the episode showed a young Kim Wexler in front of a school, waiting for a ride home late one evening. Why did she refuse to ride with her mother?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.6 "Wexler v. Goodman"

Answer: Her mother was drunk.

Kim was about twelve years old, and she was standing alone in the dark in front of Red Cloud Junior High School with her cello. Her mom finally arrived, apologizing for "losing track of time". She claimed she'd only had one beer, but Kim said, "It doesn't smell like one beer" and refused to get in the car. Instead she said she'd walk home, to which her mom replied, "Really? You're gonna walk three miles with a cello?" Kim strapped the cello to her back and headed out with her mom driving slowly beside her, trying to get her into the car. But Kim was standing firm, and her mom finally drove off, "You never listen!" The flashback showed that at a young age, Kim knew when to walk away from a bad situation, which made it harder to understand a decision she made later in the episode.

5. At the beginning of the episode, Mike found himself in a rustic adobe village. What modern adornment was in the middle of the dusty plaza with a placard that said "Dedicado a Max"?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.5 "Dedicado a Max"

Answer: An infinity-edge fountain

After being stabbed at the end of the last episode, Mike awoke in the adobe village and immediately tried to leave. He headed down a road, but he was weak and ended up sitting on a log by a road sign. There he was met by a doctor (the same doctor from whom he picked up the drugs that he doused the Salamanca truck with back in season three). "Look what you've done to all my fine work," the doctor (JB Blanc) said after noticing the blood on Mike's shirt. He took Mike back to the village and patched him up. He told Mike that if he made it to the highway, it was then a day's bus-ride to El Paso, but that he wouldn't survive the journey: "My advice is to rest, enjoy some of Senora Cortazar's excellent cooking, and take in some clean air." He said that he'd check on Mike in three days and that Mike would be ready to leave in a week or so. But of course Mike didn't wait. He started out again, and he stopped by the fountain on his second attempt to leave the village. It was a large, multi-level, modern, infinity-edge fountain that looked a tad out-of-place in the small Mexican village. At the end of the episode, it was by the same fountain that Gus met with Mike. He told Mike that the people in the village only knew him as the doctor's friend. When Mike asked what this place was, Gus said, "Call it a memoriam" but didn't elaborate. When Mike asked what Gus wanted with him, Gus responded, "It seems to me that you are at a crossroads. You can continue as you are - drinking, estranged from your family, brawling with street hoods - we both know how that ends". Mike said sarcastically that his other choice would be to work for Gus, which Gus acknowledged: "I am in a war. I need a soldier". Mike wasn't keen on working for a drug dealer, killing other drug dealers, but Gus maintained he was different from the Salamancas. When Mike asked why Gus wanted him, Gus told him it was because Mike understood revenge.

6. The opening scene of the episode showed Saul browsing through a rummage shop and testing the weight and lift of various items. What items did he end up purchasing?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.4 "Namaste"

Answer: Bowling balls

The clerk asked if she could help him find something, but he declined, "No thanks, I'm just browsing". He picked up numerous items: a lamp, trophies, a tea kettle, horseshoe, lawn darts, and even a Buddha statue. When he picked up a portable television, and swung it back and forth, the helpful clerk told him "That still works. You can plug it in if you want". But after wandering through the store, testing various items to the sound of Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band's "Laventille Road March", he spotted the bowling balls. Saul talked the clerk into $75 for all three balls, and he walked out with a carrying case also. The scene was actually a flash-forward connected to an event that occurred later in the episode when we found out what Saul intended to do with those bowling balls.

7. The beginning and ending scenes of "The Guy for This" were symbolic of Saul's descent into the criminal world. What item that Saul had been eating at the end of the previous episode was shown covered with ants in this episode?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.3 "The Guy for This"

Answer: Ice cream cone

Saul had been eating a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone last episode when he was picked up by Nacho. Nacho wouldn't allow him to bring the ice cream into the car so Saul dropped it on the ground. At the beginning of this episode, we saw a lone red harvester ant approaching the cone and then more ants joining him until there was an army of them covering the cone. At the end of the episode, Nacho dropped Saul off at the same spot after another meeting with Lalo, and Saul looked down at the remaining mess of a cone that was still covered with ants. The scenes weren't computer-generated; an ant wrangler (apparently there IS such a thing) was hired and provided 2,000 ants for the filming. The ice cream cone, however, was not real as it was too cold for the ants so "a lookalike concoction of edible and non-toxic ice cream" was used for the scene. At the end of the filming, the ants were vacuumed up in equipment specially made for the task. According to the ant wrangler, no ants were harmed during the filming: "Everybody goes home alive and unharmed". The music to the scene was provided by a Swiss yodeling group Jodlerklub Bärgblüemli. On the "You Tube" page for the song, "Jänzigrat Jüz", a listener made the comment: "we need a track to accompany some ants devouring an ice cream - let's have an 80s Nordic yodelling piece that's perfect".

8. In the opening montage, a couple of "Beavis and Butthead" delinquents decide to take advantage of Saul's half-price sale by committing a rash of crimes. What item did they steal from someone's yard that eventually ended up lying damaged in a street?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.2 "50-Percent Off"

Answer: Garden gnome

As Kim predicted, Saul's promotion of 50% off the cost of legal defense DID inspire people to commit crimes. In the montage featuring "This is Chai!" by the Japanese band Chai at beginning of the episode, two dim-witted delinquents went on a crime and drug fest fueled by Saul's half-off sale yelling "50% off" frequently during their rampage. They stole groceries, liquor, and a garden gnome, among other things, vandalized vehicles, and bought large quantities of Salamanca meth. The gnome was eventually shown in the middle of a quiet street with an eye and a chunk of its face missing. Warning - "Breaking Bad" spoilers follow! Although the damaged gnome was not mentioned by Executive Producer/writer Peter Gould as an Easter Egg, it reminded me of the damaged bear in Walt's pool that first appeared in the "Seven Thirty Seven" episode of "Breaking Bad". Another fan commented on a "Better Call Saul" forum that Saul's 50% off stunt could ultimately be linked to the downfall of Gus's empire, which ended with half of Gus's face blown off so the damage to the gnome was a foreshadowing of Gus's demise (see the comments to question seven for a further explanation).

9. When Mike meets Gus outside the burned down Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant he tells him that Lalo has brought Ignacio "Nacho" Varga down to Chihuahua, Mexico. Why does Mike think Nacho has been brought south of the border?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul" S5:E10 "Something Unforgivable"

Answer: He is going to get promoted within the cartel.

Gus Fring's organization had planned to kill Lalo in the same area that Jimmy had picked up the $7 million in bail money. However, when Lalo was driven down there he felt off about the situation and instructed Nacho to take him back to Albuquerque. After confronting Jimmy and Kim, Lalo had Nacho take him to Mexico via a different route. Mike believed that Lalo took Nacho to Mexico so he could meet the head of the cartel and get promoted to a more powerful role. Mike thought it was too dangerous and recommended to Gus to initiate a rescue mission for Nacho but Gus wanted to keep him as a mole within his opponent's organization.

10. After their long desert trek, Saul and Mike finally made it to a travel center gas station. How did they get home from there?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.9 "Bad Choice Road"

Answer: Victor and Tyrus picked them up

After reaching the "Alejo Travel Center" gas station, they bought tourist t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops, and sucked down jumbo beverages while they waited to be picked up. Tyrus told Mike that they had someone check on the ambush site, and the carnage was still there, so they were sending flatbed trucks to move the vehicles and bodies. He didn't think they'd be able to find the last guy that Mike shot because as Mike stated, it was in "the middle of nowhere". Saul started to doze off on the trip back to Albuquerque, but Mike wouldn't let him: "We have to work on your story".

11. As Lalo had told him last episode, Saul would need to pick up the bail money. When he gave Saul instructions in this episode, what feature did he tell him to look for in the desert?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.8 "Bagman"

Answer: A well

Lalo provided very detailed instructions on how to get to the location which was in southern New Mexico near Deming. Lalo told him to drive 30 miles down a dirt road, but then clarified it as "31.6 so make sure you use the little trip meter thing..." Lalo told him he'd then see a well, and when Saul asked for a description, Lalo gave a deadpan response, "It looks like a well". He told Saul that his (Lalo's) cousins would meet him there: "You'll like them. They're good boys". We had already seen The Cousins picking up the cash from a warehouse that was filled with expensive cars, so we knew which family members Lalo meant. Saul wasn't feeling too keen on doing the pickup and tried to pitch other ideas to Lalo, which Lalo declined: "You're the right guy for this". But then Lalo could see that Saul hesitating and told him that he'd find somebody else. Lalo then dismissed Saul and continued reading his newspaper, but Saul had a change of heart, at least for the right price he did. He asked Lalo for $100,000; Lalo responded: "100k for a little drive through the desert" and stared at Saul. But then he suddenly agreed with a smile on his face: "Done!"

12. When Rich and Kim met with Kevin Wachtell following the Acker case settlement, Kevin made it clear that he wasn't sure if he was going to continue Mesa Verde's relationship with their firm. What did Kim do to change Kevin's mind?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.7 "JMM"

Answer: Told him off

Kim made a pitch for Kevin to keep the services of Schweikart and Cokely, with Paige adding her two cents about how "flawless" the legal work had been up until Tucumcari. But Kevin told Kim that he had expected more from her, and he was disappointed that she "dropped the ball". As Kim and Rich were leaving, Kevin told her that she "could do a whole lot better" than Saul, which got her back up. So when Rick and Kim were walking down the hallway, Kim told him that they couldn't leave the situation like this, and she went back to confront Kevin. She told Kevin, "No matter what our relationship looks like moving forward, we owe you the truth. And the truth is... you ignored our advice. We said that Mesa Verde should reconsider the site for the call center, you declined. We advised you to keep the purchased lot as an investment, you declined. And we advised you to leave that meeting when it became apparent that the other side was negotiating in bad faith, and you declined. At every point we gave you the best guidance we could, and at every point you chose to go your own way... If you continue to ignore us, then this is the wrong relationship". As she started to leave, she added, "Whoever represents you in the future, I hope you're going to listen to them a little bit better". Kim's hard line stance worked. Kevin told them, "See you on Thursday".

13. Saul had an elaborate plan for going after Kevin Wachtell which involved on-location filming of commercials, but when his college kids film crew told him how long it would take, he opted for something simpler. Where did the crew end up filming?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.6 "Wexler v. Goodman"

Answer: At the nail salon

At the end of the last episode, we saw that Kim had discovered something in the photos that Mr. X had taken of Kevin's home office. Saul had envisioned using an old Mesa Verde commercial as a template and filming people complaining about the bank using the same locations. The crew told him it was possible but it was going to take much longer than the day or two that he wanted plus "we have mid-terms". So he instead opted for filming at the nail salon, creating a green screen backdrop to allow the various performances to be edited in to the scenes. Saul spent quite a bit of time enthusiastically directing the filming to get just the right performances he was looking for.

14. Saul's plan for helping Mr. Acker was to stall the eviction. On his first day on the case, what ploy did he use to keep the demolition crew at bay?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.5 "Dedicado a Max"

Answer: Changed the address of the property

As the demolition workers met to discuss the plans for the day, Saul informed them that there was a hitch. When the deputy (Michael H. Cole) arrived with the eviction notice for 1130 Arroyo Vista, Mr. Acker appeared and said the address was 1240 Arroyo Vista. The foreman (John DiMaggio) for the crew argued that he had seen numbers on the mailbox and that he had a map that "could straighten this out right now", but Saul claimed that, "Mr. Acker's been living here for 30 years. I think he knows his own address". When the deputy asked for something with an address on it, Acker pulled out mail from his mailbox that the sheriff confirmed had the 1240 address on it. The foreman said that anyone could have printed the address on the mail, but the deputy wasn't willing to ignore the discrepancy: "I have to make a call".

15. Who invited Saul to lunch in the "Namaste" episode and offered him a job?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.4 "Namaste"

Answer: Howard

Howard had been a bit of a mess early last season as he struggled to deal with Chuck's death, but he had things together now. He was interested to know why Jimmy was now "Saul Goodman". Saul explained, that "Saul Goodman is the last line of defense for the little guy. You're getting sold down the river - he's a life raft... You got Goliath on your back, Saul's the guy with the slingshot. He's a righter of wrongs, he's a friend to the friendless". Howard was amused by the speech but asked why Jimmy McGill couldn't do that. Howard then said that he believed Jimmy changed his name because of the way he was treated by Hamlin Hamlin McGill: "Your name is a part of that firm; now it's tainted... we took your legacy away from you". Howard told him, "I should have showed some backbone" when he had the opportunity to hire Jimmy, but Saul wasn't interested: "It's ancient history". Howard however was determined to make up for past mistakes and offered Saul a job. Saul quickly replied: "Before you offer me a job, you might want to call your buddy, Cliff Main. He'd have a unique perspective on employing me". Howard seemed to be on a sort of ten-step program for getting his life together, and perhaps making peace with Saul was one of the steps, but he did seem very sincere. Saul however was dismissive of Howard throughout the lunch, and even though he didn't turn down the job offer outright, he wasn't at all enthused about it, and as Howard drove away in his Jaguar, Saul smirked at the "NAMAST3" license plate (apparently, "NAMASTE" was already taken).

16. Lalo is a man of many talents. We've seen him cooking in the Salamanca kitchen and dropping from a ceiling at a wire transfer store in earlier episodes. What skill was he demonstrating when Nacho first brought Saul to meet him?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.3 "The Guy for This"

Answer: Fixing a car

Lalo was working on the engine of a Monte Carlo when Nacho arrived with Saul. Saul thought he was there because of his prior involvement with Nacho, and he began to nervously talk about their history. When Lalo finally addressed him, he said, "Tuco told me about you. You're the guy with the mouth". He then told Saul that "we got a legal problem". Saul was so happy to hear this: "For a minute there, I thought I was going to be swallowing condoms full of heroin". Lalo laughed, "No, maybe later". Lalo explained that Domingo was in jail, and he wanted Saul to tell Domingo what to say. Saul tried to talk him into using a drop phone, but Lalo wanted Saul to handle it in person since he'd had attorney/client confidentiality: "You're the guy for this". Saul then mentioned that his rates had gone up. When Lalo asked for a number, Saul quoted $7,925, thinking Lalo would turn him down, but Lalo just pulled out the cash and paid him $8,000 "for your trouble". By the way, Lalo's skills including racing the car; we later saw him turning laps at a dirt race track.

17. Gus had previously "recruited" Nacho to work for him by killing Arturo in front of him. This time, after having Tyrus and Victor snatch Nacho from his sleep, what did Gus do to convince Nacho to gain Lalo's trust?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.2 "50-Percent Off"

Answer: Threatened to have Victor kill Nacho's father

While he was sleeping, Nacho was awakened by Tyrus and Victor and some other thugs. Nacho protested as they took him away: "What do you want with me? I switched the stuff just like you told me". He was taken to a meeting with Gus which took place in front of a restaurant where his father was hanging out with friends. When Victor got out of the car with a gun, Nacho frantically pleaded with Tyrus for his father's life: "Why is he doing this? I did everything". As Victor stood behind Nacho's dad in the restaurant, Gus entered the vehicle. Nacho asked what Gus wanted him to do, and Gus responded, "Lalo Salamanca". Nacho said that the only thing he knew was that Lalo was obsessed with Werner Ziegler "and some gringo Michael". Gus told Nacho to make Lalo trust him, and when Nacho asked how, Gus ominously told him to "FIND A WAY". Once Nacho agreed, Tyrus flashed the car lights, and Victor returned to the car, telling the traumatized Nacho: "Your pop's a nice guy".

18. Kim decides to go to the courthouse to pick up some case work. Who does she get this case work from?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul" S5:E10 "Something Unforgivable"

Answer: Public defender's office

Jimmy is surprised when he sees Kim getting ready to go to the courthouse. He does not think it's safe but Kim tells him they have to live their lives normally. Having just quit her job at Schweikart & Cokely, Kim decides to pick up 20 pro bono cases from the public defender's office. She is amazed to see the backlog of cases arranged in numerous boxes labeled by felony type.

19. How did Kim first find out that Saul's story about his car breaking down in the desert wasn't the complete truth?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.9 "Bad Choice Road"

Answer: She saw the bullet hole in his coffee cup

When Saul returned to Albuquerque, he went straight to the courthouse to turn in the bail money, the amount of which drew an audience while it was counted. Lalo was then released, and Saul told him that he had run into car trouble and had to walk across the desert, which is why it took so long. When Saul arrived home, Kim was very caring and put him in an oatmeal bath to help with the sunburn. When she asked him if it had been worth it, he told her to look in the bag in the living room. She did so and saw the money, but then she saw the cup. He must have forgotten it was there. She stared at the bullet hole, and then put it back. When she later told him that she knew something bad had happened and that she was available to listen, he told her that something bad DID happen - he had to drink his urine when he ran out of water.

20. What happened to Saul after he picked up the bags from The Cousins?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.8 "Bagman"

Answer: He was ambushed by multiple gunmen

Saul waited at the well, practicing the phrase, "Yo soy abogado". While he waited, he poured some water out of his water bottle to clean his shoes (yeah, he'd regret wasting the water later). When The Cousins arrived, he babbled a bit, trying Spanish and English, and of course getting no response, but they did hand him the two duffel bags of money. Saul then drove off singing "Seven million dollars of cash in the trunk" to the tune of the beer bottle song. He soon found himself followed by a jeep which he initially tried to have pass him, but then two SUVs stopped in front of him and the guys who got out had guns. Saul kept saying "abogado" and "amigo del cartel" as he was about to be killed, but then the guy pointing the gun at him dropped dead and a shoot-out commenced. Saul stayed low as the men were picked off, one by one. When it appeared that they were all dead, a truck approached and out of it stepped Mike, the one-man wrecking crew. But one of the men was still on his feet and drove off. The shootout was filmed in To'hajiilee, which was a frequent filming location for "Breaking Bad" and the place where Walt and Jesse had their RV cooks. One of the interesting tidbits that Vince Gilligan shared about the shooting was that they had a snake catcher roaming the set, to make sure none of the cast or crew were bitten while they were on location for several days.

21. Saul had a new client, one Jorge de Guzman, who turned out to be Lalo. When Lalo saw the "JMM" initials on Saul's briefcase, Saul told him it stood for his motto "Justice Matters Most". What did Lalo tell him it should stand for?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.7 "JMM"

Answer: Just Make Money

Kim had bought the briefcase for Saul when he had his license reinstated, and she had it monogrammed for James Morgan McGill. Saul told her he'd use the briefcase but change the initials to his motto. Lalo laughed when Saul gave him the "Justice Matters Most" line. He later told Saul that it was "time to get yourself a new motto: Just Make Money" when he hinted to Saul that being a "friend of the cartel" could be lucrative for him.

22. When Kim arrived to the location where Saul was filming the commercials, what information did she give him regarding her plans to go after Kevin Wachtell?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.6 "Wexler v. Goodman"

Answer: She wanted to end it.

Kim told Saul she didn't want to go forward with the commercials against Mesa Verde; she just wanted to end it and move on. She told Saul that Rich was suspicious about her actions already and thought that he'd figure out that she was involved in the commercials. But Saul was too enthusiastic to quit and tried to talk her out of it. He claimed that Rich didn't know a thing and couldn't prove anything. Kim said that it might be true, but that it wasn't worth it: "We'll negotiate as far up as we can, and then I'll make up the difference". Saul finally said that it was her decision, and the two of them went into the nail salon to help clean up. Later, Rich and Kim had a conference call with Paige and gave her the news that Acker had decided to settle.

23. Kim met with Mesa Verde's Kevin Wachtell and Paige Novick at a golf course cafe to discuss the delay in the eviction. What did Kim offer to do that Kevin refused to allow?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.5 "Dedicado a Max"

Answer: Withdraw from the case

Kevin was displeased with the delay: "Now the guy gets a lawyer. The lawyer comes in, the crazy comes out". Kim and Paige said that the issue was resolved in a few hours, but Kim stated, "unfortunately there is another complication. The lawyer Acker hired, it's Jimmy". Kim said that in fairness to Mesa Verde, she would withdraw from the Tucumcari project, but handle the other Mesa Verde business. Paige agreed with this, but Kevin didn't: "I smell a rat. Acker hiring Jimmy - that's no coincidence. And I heard about the talking-to you gave that guy; sounds like you tore him a new one... Here's what I think. This fella saw you for the killer you are, and he went and hired Jimmy specifically to take you away from us... I am not gonna let this guy deprive me of the best in the business". Paige tried to point out that it might be personally difficult for Kim, but Kim clarified that it was the conflict of interest that concerned her. But Kevin didn't care: "Why change horses midstream?"

24. Mr. Acker, the man with a house on Mesa Verde land, had rejected Kim's attempt to assist him, so she tried another angle. What did she suggest that Mesa Verde do to resolve the issue?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.4 "Namaste"

Answer: Build the call center on another plot of land

It turned out that Mesa Verde had initially looked at two plots of land for their call center. The other plot hadn't been chosen because of drainage issues, but Kim had found out that the drainage had been fixed, and new roads had been built near the property. She tried to convince Mesa Verde CEO Kevin Wachtel that going back to the other property was a good decision because of the new infrastructure. She even tried to throw in the issue of "reputational risk": "Ousting a man from his house is never a good look". Kevin wasn't buying it; he asked Kim to confirm that Mesa Verde owned their plot of land and if they were in the right legally; when she agreed, he said, "That settles it. I'm not gonna let anybody chase me off ". Kim was disappointed but moved on. Paige said that she had talked to the sheriff, and that "come Friday at noon, Acker will be out and construction will proceed".

25. When Mike was drowning his sorrows at the bar, what picture did he ask the bartender to take down because it reminded him of Werner Ziegler?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.3 "The Guy for This"

Answer: Sydney Opera House

Mike was drinking at his usual bar, and he'd had quite a few, so when he asked for another, the bartender said he'd call him a cab. Mike tossed his keys on the bar: "Put them in the register and pour me another". Then Mike spotted the postcard on the wall that Werner Ziegler had mentioned when the two of them had a drink at the bar. It was a picture of the Sydney Opera House, and Werner had said that his father had worked on it. Mike wanted the bartender to take the picture down, but the bartender declined, "I don't know, Mike. Customers send these in. It's a tradition". Mike kept saying, "Take it down", but the bartender refused to do so until Mike finally added a sorrowful "please".

26. Saul perhaps sensed that Kim wasn't keen on his new persona, so he went out of his way to connect with her. What high-end potential purchase did he take her to see?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.2 "50-Percent Off"

Answer: A large house

Saul was ironing a shirt and talking with clients on the phone while Kim was getting ready for work. He chatted with her briefly between calls and tried to make plans for dinner, but Kim was noncommittal. As Kim was leaving for work, Saul jumped in her car and told her he wanted to show her something. He took her to a huge house that was for sale, and the two of them toured it. He told her "You're doing great, and I'm gonna be doing great. I've got 45 clients" so in his mind, the house wasn't out of their price range. Kim wasn't enthusiastic, but she went along and was impressed by the size of the closet ("This is the closet of your dreams!") and by the bathroom. When Saul stood in the shower, Kim couldn't resist turning it on him, a reminder of their shared mischievousness. They left the property with a disapproving scowl from the real estate agent. "Maybe someday" Kim told Saul.

27. Lalo Salamanca was trying to figure out what Werner Ziegler and Michael were doing for Gus Fring. When he asked Nacho and Domingo if there was anything going on with the operation, they mentioned hearing complaints about what?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.1 "Magic Man"

Answer: Product quality

After the events of last season, Lalo was curious about what Werner Ziegler was building for Gus Fring. He quizzed Nacho and Domingo about the names Werner Ziegler and Michael, but they denied knowing anything. When Lalo asked if anything was going on with the Fring side of the operation, Nacho and Domingo admitted getting complaints that the product was not the same quality as before. Lalo then went with Nacho to a derelict apartment complex where their dealers were selling meth to examine the product. Just by appearance, he determined that several of the packets weren't Salamanca product, and then he took a taste to confirm his belief.

28. What additional gift does Lalo provide to Don Eladio when he is giving the cartel boss the Salamanca's portion of the drug money?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul" S5:E10 "Something Unforgivable"

Answer: Ferrari

Don Eladio's cash provided by Gus Fring's organization is nicely shrink wrapped in large bundles. However, Lalo desires to have a more memorable presentation for the Salamanca cash payments so he provides Don Eladio with a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS. Lalo tells Don Eladio to also look in the front trunk (which they comically call a 'frunk') where there is a substantial amount of cash inside.

29. Mike discussed the desert ambush with Gus, and when he described the tattoos on the men, Gus made a call. Whom did Gus believe was responsible for the ambush?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.9 "Bad Choice Road"

Answer: Juan Bolsa

Mike told Gus that he'd seen the tattoos before on a Columbian gang when he was a cop. Gus said that the gangs were hired, and he then made a call to Juan Bolsa. He told Bolsa that Lalo was released from prison "at a substantial price" and would be returning to Mexico. Bolsa sounded a bit surprised about the latter part, but Gus explained that "Forfeiting bail is the only way to assure he remains out of prison". Bolsa then said that everything would be back to normal and that "your run of bad luck will be behind you". It was Gus's turn to sound surprised and when he asked what Bolsa meant, he was told "the DEA, the fire, the arrest... my hope is that it's over". After the call ended, Gus told Mike that "I just spoke to the man responsible for the attack". Gus explained that Bolsa was trying to protect the business by keeping Lalo in jail, and that Bolsa didn't realize that Gus wanted Lalo out of prison.

30. When Saul's car died, Mike removed the bags, the license plate, and what other item that he had used to track Saul?

From Quiz "Better Call Saul": 5.8 "Bagman"

Answer: The gas cap

Mike's truck was damaged during the shootout so they were forced to take Saul's car, but as they drove down the road, Saul's car died also. Mike told Saul, "Get out. The alternator's shot. Literally". He then removed the license plate and the gas cap. He looked briefly at the cap before putting it in his gun bag, and when he opened the bag, we could see the control device that he had used with the gas cap tracker back in season three. In that season, Mike tore his car apart after being followed and finally found the tracker in his gas cap. He then bought the same tracking device and used it to follow Gus's men back to Los Pollos Hermanos. In this episode, Mike had been tasked with getting Lalo out of jail, so he had a definite interest in making sure that Saul arrived back in Albuquerque with the bail money. After the ambush, Saul was in shock so he didn't ask a lot of questions, but he did ask if Mike had expected the ambush. Mike said that he would have brought more guys if he'd expected trouble.
