The show "Laverne & Shirley" is set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as it was the hometown of Thomas L. Miller, the executive producer (and also of "Happy Days"). Laverne and Shirley both work at the fictional Shotz Brewery as bottle-cappers for beer bottles. Milwaukee is known as "Brew City" (hence the name for the city's baseball team - the Brewers) and has a rich history in brewing beer. Historically, the Milwaukee River provided clean water for the beer as well as a way of distributing the product when it was made, and the cold weather made the city ideal for making lager.
