1. Where did the Friesian breed originally come from?

Answer: Friesland

Most people have heard of Friesian cattle, but not so many have heard of Friesian horses. They both come from 'Friesland' in the Netherlands. Friesian horses are mostly known for their black coat colouring, but are also distinguishable by their wavy manes and long feathers.
2. ASH stands for Austrian Saddle Horse.

Answer: False

ASH stands for Australian Stock Horse. The ASH is mostly Anglo-Arab in breeding but there are also traces of Quarter Horse and Percheron influence.
3. Where did the Lipizzaner breed originate?

Answer: Slovenia

The Lipizzaner, also called the Lipizzan, was originally bred at a stud in Lipizz, Slovenia. They have been bred there for over 400 years. The Lipizzaner is used as a dressage horse because it has good conformation and is easy to train.
4. Which French breed of horse closely resembles England's Fell pony?

Answer: Ariegeois

The Ariegeois is a mountain pony, which originated in the south of France. They are almost always black in colour and were bred to work in the mines.
5. What is a Curly horse sometimes called?

Answer: Bashkir Curly

The Curly horse is also called the American Bashkir Curly, and North American Curly Horse. They are distinguishable by their curly coats, manes and tails.
Most Curlies are between 14 and 16 hands high, although they can range from miniature right through to draft.
6. The Bavarian Warmblood is from Belgium.

Answer: False

The Bavarian Warmblood is from the Rott valley in Bavaria, Germany. Bavarian Warmbloods are used in eventing, show jumping and dressage, as well as other equestrian sports.

The Qatgani horse originated in Afghanistan. It is commonly used for light riding work.

The Budenny is used as an all-purpose competition horse. It is a cross of Thoroughbred stallions and Don or Chernomor mares.

Answer: They are both breeds of feral horses.

Mustangs descended from the horses that the Spanish Conquistadors bought to America. The Brumby is descendant from the Waler, which was imported to Australia from South Africa.

Answer: Frost

Blanket - The coat colouring over the hips is either white or spotted.
Leopard - White hair over all or part of the body with dark spots.
Snowflake - White spots all over, especially on the hips.
Marbleized - Molten pattern all over the body.
Frost - White specks on a dark coat.
