Commonly found in Mindanao, the Philippine Flying Lemur is locally known as "kagwang" or "colugo". It is a nocturnal mammal that doesn't actually fly but glides from tree to tree, as far as 100 meters and more. This amazing creature has facial features similar to that of a dog.

It can weigh 1 to 1.7 kilograms and grow as long as 14 to 17 inches, plus as much as 12 inches for its tail which aids its balance while gliding in the air.

The Giant Golden Crown Flying Fox, which looks like a fox, is in reality a fruit-eating bat and can have a maximum wingspan of about 6 feet. It can be found in Subic Bay, Zambales and the province of Bataan.

Balabac Island in the southern part of Palawan province is the home of "pilandok" or Philippine mouse deer. It stands about 40 centimeters (18 inches) at the shoulder. Lolong was named after Ernesto "Lolong" Goloran Canete, a crocodile hunter who died of a heart attack days before this giant was caught. Lolong was captured in Bunawan Creek in Agusan Del Sur on 3 September 2011, making the town an instant tourist attraction.
