Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was he born?

Answer: San Francisco

Bruce was born in Chinatown, San Francisco November 27th 1940, soon after he was born his parents moved back to Kowloon, China. His father, Lee Hoi-Chuen, was an actor and introduced young Bruce to movies. Bruce made several movies as a child in Hong Kong.
2. What was his birth name?

Answer: Lee Jun Fan

Lee Jun Fan means "return again" and was given to Lee by his mother, who felt he would return to the United States once he came of age. Bruce actually had three Chinese names Li Yuanxin, Li Yuanjian and Li Xiaolong which meant Little Dragon.
3. What was the name of the martial art Lee first studied under Master Yip Man?

Answer: Wing Chun

Karate is a Japanese martial art, Taekwando and Hapkido are both Korean. Although Bruce eventually studied all martial arts and other fighting forms, from which he took the best and developed Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun was Lee's first martial art. It taught simplicity of movement and was mainly good for close up fighting.
4. Who was the Hap Ki Do champion who Bruce fought in "Way of the Dragon"? He beat him along with Bob Wall's character just before meeting Chuck Norris at the Coliseum.

Answer: Hwang in Sik

Hwang in Sik has appeared in many Martial arts movies and is known for his very fluid movement and spinning kicks. His appearance in "Way of the Dragon" was a fairly minor role for him, but the few minutes he is fighting with Bruce is well worth it.
5. Before moving back to Hong Kong Bruce appeared in what film, opposite James Garner?

Answer: Marlowe

Bruce played a bad guy, Winslow Wong, who was sent to scare Marlowe and although Bruce was only onscreen for a short time, he still showed some of the screen presence he would exhibit in his later movies.
The end fight with Marlowe was a little unrealistic. Bruce did a flying kick and fell off the roof to his death. But then again it was better than showing James Garner beating Bruce.
6. Bruce appeared as Kato in "The Green Hornet". On which other superhero show did he make a guest appearance as Kato?

Answer: Batman

"Batman" was a successful TV series made in the 60s at the same time as "Green Hornet" which did not do as well. However when Bruce arrived back in Hong Kong he was greeted as a hero, as Kato was shown as the star of "Green Hornet".
7. Bruce actually appeared in several TV series in the 60s, but in which show did he get to show and talk about his fighting style Jeet Kune Do?

Answer: Longstreet

"Longstreet" was about a blind insurance investigator, played by James Franciscus. Bruce appeared in four episodes as Li Tsung and it was really the first time the west got to see how effective Kung Fu was.
8. Bruce won a competition in 1958 and became the Hong Kong champion. What was it for?

Answer: Dancing Cha Cha

Bruce Lee loved anything physical. He believed dancing was a great way to learn fluid movement, and that it was also a great way to meet girls.
9. Bruce also appeared in which other TV detective show? Bruce played Leon Soo in an episode called 'Tagged for Murder'.

Answer: Ironside

"Ironside" was a ground breaking show as it featured a disabled character, played by the late Raymond Burr. Bruce had been in a number of TV series including of course "Longstreet", but apart from that show the roles he played were very minor and did not really show off his amazing skills.
10. Can you name the actress who appeared in three of Bruce's movies? She had a minor part in "The Big Boss" selling food and again in "Fist of Fury" where she was his love interest, then again in "Way of the Dragon" as his relative living in Italy.
