Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which celebrity would fit the clues of (1) Heiress (2) Hotels and (3) Chihuahua?

Answer: Paris Hilton

Socialite, actress, singer and entertainer, Paris Hilton was born in 1981. She is the great-granddaughter of the founder of the Hilton chain of hotels, Conrad Hilton, and could, no doubt, have lived out her life as a rich heiress whom nobody particularly knew. Not content to do just that, and not being the brightest child academically at school, Paris began a career, initially as a model, when she was a teenager. For a while however, following that early beginning, she was only famous for being famous, for her many romances, and for her notorious behaviour.

This woman is no empty-headed heiress with nothing to do but her nails though, make no mistake about that. Since those early beginnings, she took that unflattering reputation she had earned for herself and turned it right around. She has written two books (about herself), made several music videos, albums and singles, and appeared in over twenty films and various television productions. This includes her own reality television shows such as "The Simple Life" which ran from 2003-2007, and which followed her and Nicole Richie - and their Chihuahuas - around as they attempted to earn a living doing low-paid every day work. Paris went on from there to head her own billion dollar business that includes many endorsements, paid public appearances at clubs and various events, and the creation of her own perfumes, fashions, handbags, watches and shoes. Those perfumes have earned her over one billion dollars alone, while her other products give her a profit of ten million dollars a year. Not too bad at all for someone who was mistaken for just being a ditsy, blonde, Chihuahua toting heiress, is it?
2. "I just want to say...Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just want to say I love him... so much". Can you name the budding actress who made that moving statement?

Answer: Paris Jackson

Paris Jackson, born in 1998, is a young aspiring actress and the daughter of that great performer, Michael Jackson (1958-2009). Whether she wants to or not, this young girl, who made that very moving speech at a service for Michael, is doomed to the life of celebrity and constant harassment by the media. Paris, who was raised solely by her father, who had full custody of his three children, seemed to have had a warm, loving and protected family life. Certainly she and her brothers were made to wear masks whenever appearing in public to try to protect them from the intrusive eyes of the media, but it was interesting that Michael always had his children dressed impeccably and conservatively as well.

Her grandmother, Michael's mother, was given full guardianship of his children upon his death. Hopefully she will last long enough to see them grown to competent and sensible adulthood. In the meantime, Paris, who wishes to be a movie star, had appeared in four television specials, "X Factor", and two talk shows by the time she was fourteen. At the age of sixteen, she already had one film to her credit, as the character Lundon O'Malley, in the 2014 movie "Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys". This tells the story of a dolphin turned into a human, a boy turned into a dragonfly, and a jellyfish queen who becomes an evil godmother and has the theme of "family love and the magic of belief as weapons to fight a war between the land and the sea".
3. Is it true that American actor, casting director and entrepreneur, Paris Themmen, played Mike Teevee in the 1971 film "Willy Wonka & the Tim-Tam Factory"?

Answer: No

Born in 1959, Paris Themmen is an American actor, casting director and entrepreneur. His parents were classical musicians, which, no doubt, had a certain degree of influence on Paris and his subsequent career. By the time he was eleven, he had appeared in a number of television and radio advertisements, voice-overs and theatrical productions, so was more than competent to take on the role of the television-obsessed Mike Teevee in the 1971 production of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (not Tim-Tam factory). This film tells the story of Charlie and four other children from around the world who find five Golden Tickets which win them the right to visit Willy Wonka at his mysterious and rather terrifying chocolate factory.

Paris took a break from acting at fourteen (so young to be burned out) to just "be a kid", and to then study theatre at the New York University, before setting off on a long, long trip around the world. On his return, he set up several businesses, the major ones being for casting and film productions. In between times, he continues to take his pick of roles that appeal to him in theatre, film and television.
4. Singer and actress, this young Paris with the plain surname, played Maddie Van Pelt in the Nickelodeon show "Every Witch Way". Can you name her?

Answer: Paris Smith

Paris Smith, born either in 1998 or 2000 (two dates are given on the internet for that), is a young American actress and singer with a very promising career ahead of her, but with an impressive amount of work already achieved. She has won Young Artist Awards, cut singles, and appeared in several films and television shows.

Her most notable achievement, up to 2014, at the ancient age of sixteen or fourteen, is that of playing Maddie Van Pelt in the teen sitcom about good and bad witches at a local High School.

It commenced in January of that year, and has since been launched worldwide. Sounds bewitching.
5. English actress Paris Jefferson had a recurring role, as the goddess Athena, in which television series about a Warrior Princess?

Answer: Xena

Paris Jefferson was born in London in 1970. She is a British actress, who, since she first began acting as a seventeen year old, has a large number of films and guest spots in various television listed against her name, and no doubt, with a lot more to come.

A few of these include appearances in "The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes" (1984-1994) and "Agatha Christie's Poirot" (1989-2013) and "Highlander" (1986), with a recurring role at Athena, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, justice, law and justice and so forth, who appeared at the most dramatic times, in the popular series "Xena: Warrior Princess" that ran from 1995 until 2001.
6. Jackie Paris was an American Jazz singer and guitarist who won many awards for his work. Can you complete the title of his most famous recording, "Round ..."?

Answer: Midnight

Jackie Paris (1924-2004) was an American jazz singer, tap-dancer and guitarist who worked with some of the big name stars of the time, including Charlie "Bird" Parker (1920-1955), Dizzy Gillespie (1917-1993) and Nat King Cole (1919-1965). Over the course of his long career, he topped many jazz popularity polls and won several impressive titles, including Best Male Vocalist 1957-1961, and the New Star Male Vocalist 1953. Jackie began that career as a song and dance man, appearing with the likes of the famous Mr Bojangles (Bill Robinson 1878-1949). After serving in the army during the Second World War (1939-1945) in which he kept the troops amused in between times with his tap-dancing in particular, he formed his own jazz trio, and they soon became fixtures at some of the top jazz clubs at the time. He made fifteen albums of his music over the years, with his most popular single being the number "'Round Midnight", a song that was always referred to as the jazz anthem.

Jackie Paris died in 2004 in New York City. His final performance was at the legendary Birdland night spot, where he'd been a regular performer over his life. It was standing room only on that final night, and as Charlie played his final number, he received a long and very moving standing ovation.
7. Though she wasn't born in a manger, Twila Paris is a top selling songstress of which form of music?

Answer: Christian

Born in 1958, Twila Paris is an American singer of Contemporary Christian Music, as well as a songwriter, author and pianist. She first began performing as a child, and amazingly so, the first album of her songs, "Little Twila Paris" was released in 1965 when she was just seven years old. That's crazy.

The poor little thing should have been playing with Barbie dolls at that age. Twila's career since that time has included a large number of awards for her music, an impressive number of albums that feature many of her own compositions, a large number of number one "hits" on Christian radio, and several books with beautiful titles, most of which centre around her strong faith and love of the Lord. Though I've never read any, her 2001 "Bedtime Prayers and Lullabies" in particular sounds really delightful.
8. Jerry Paris was a well known actor and director best known for playing the dentist neighbour of which famous television couple with the surname Petrie?

Answer: Rob and Laura

Jerry Paris (1925-1986) was an American actor and director who was best known for playing Rob and Laura Petrie's neighbours in the very popular "The Dick Van Dyke Show", a sitcom that ran from 1961 until 1966. In this series, centred around the family and fellow workers of a head writer, Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) of a television variety show, Jerry plays Rob's best friend and neighbour, Jerry Helper, who, comically so, is a dentist. I don't know why I think that's funny, but the idea of a dentist neighbour in a comedy show really makes me chuckle. It was certainly funny enough to see Jerry gain an Emmy for his role.

Born in California, Jerry Paris served in the US navy during the last couple of years of the Second World War, then studied at the New York university, UCLA and the Actor's Studio before commencing a career in the entertainment business. Those career statistics are impressive and include his acting in over forty movies, his neighbourly dentist television role detailed above, and directing more than forty other movies and various television series. The latter of these included "The Partridge Family" (1970-1974) and "Happy Days" (1974-1984). Sadly, Jerry died at the relatively young age of sixty, while undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour.
9. Ryan Paris, born on the European continent with the given name Fabio Roscioli, had a world famous hit with his 1983 song "Dolce Vita". What is his nationality?

Answer: Italian

Born in Rome in 1953, Fabio Roscioli aka Ryan Paris (he moved from one capital to another it seems) is an Italian singer, songwriter and musician who is most known for his hit single "Dolce Vita" which became a worldwide hit in 1983. He has released many singles since that time, and although he continues to be a popular performer wherever he appears, and in spite of several of his other singles having climbed up into healthy positions on the music charts, Ryan, by 2014, still hadn't achieved another worldwide hit that made the same impact as his first. No doubt that will change however.

He's extremely fit looking, very easy on the eye, and endowed with a fine Italian singing voice. What more could you ask for?
10. This Paris is a Canadian singer and songwriter best known for her hits "Look At Us" and "Just About Enough". Her first name sounds a little like that of a television teenage witch. What is it?

Answer: Sarina

Born in Toronto in 1973, Sarina Paris is a Canadian singer and songwriter best known for her hit singles "Look At Us" (2000) and "Just About Enough" (2001). She has of course released other singles as well, which have performed well on the charts, but those two were her most well known up to 2014. Sarina's debut album "Sarina Paris", which was released in 2001, features all but one song which she co-wrote.

This singer sounds absolutely lovely. She describes her music as "nothing too intellectual - just music to make you happy and to make you feel good...I wanted to make (songs) that kids could listen to with their parents. Songs that were clubby for mom, but weren't x-rated so the kids could play and dance along with". That makes a refreshing change for some of the revolting lyrics of other songs in recent years, so Sarina makes an ideal conclusion to this quiz.
