Greta Lovisa Gustafsson was born on September 18, 1905 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Greta was one of only seven students admitted to the prestigious Royal Dramatic Theatre Academy (Kungliga Dramatiska Teaterns Elevskola) in Sweden. While there, she changed her name, developed her voice, built the foundation for her acting career and made lifelong friendships with other actors and artists.
