Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mario

Answer: Mushroom

Mario and his brother Luigi have been eating mushrooms throughout the "Mario Bros." franchise. And the fungi are good for them. It makes them bigger, smaller, stronger, whatever is needed for the level they are in. Normally the mushrooms are the stylized red with white spots (or red with yellow spots) but sometimes they are green and white.
2. Popeye

Answer: Spinach

Popeye the Sailor Man was created by Elzie Segar and appeared in a comic strip in 1929. When he downs a can of spinach (without having to remove his pipe first) his forearms bulge out with his sudden increase in power. His super-strength allows him to defeat the bad guys with a knockout punch.
Why spinach? It's nutritional value is widely known but when a German chemist made an error in transcribing his notes, he accidentally increased the protein content by 10 times! This was the reason the creators of Popeye chose spinach as his super food. The cartoon also increased consumption of the previously hated vegetable by a third of what they were previously eating. Such is the power of the media.

Popeye's habits of smoking and fighting are not good for you, but spinach is, so do a Popeye and eat some.
