Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Grant Morrison was the writer called in to modernize the "X-Men" comics with the "New X-Men" title. Previously he had performed the same task on which of these DC comics?

Answer: JLA

Morrison's run on "JLA" culminated in the "World War Three" storyline where every single person in the world was given superpowers, albeit temporarily.
2. In "E Is For Extinction", what is the first name of the Trask family member used by Cassandra Nova to gain control of the Sentinel Master Mold?

Answer: Donald

It was Donald Trask's uncle, Bolivar, who built the first of the original Sentinels.
3. Which of the following mutants was NOT a member of Xorn's Special class?

Answer: Redneck

Redneck was, of course, a member of Quentin Quire's Omega Skulls gang.
4. In "Imperial", what is the name of the Shi'ar steersman who Nova psychically commands to wreck his ship?

Answer: Immundra

Jorrsk was a Radioman aboard the same craft, while Forunn was a medic. Orr is someone I made up.
5. In the issue titled "Super Ddestroyer", which of the Shi'ar super guardians is the first to fall to Wolverine?

Answer: Neosaurus

Plutonia leaves early on in the Super guardian's assault on the mansion to investigate a mysterious signal, returning with the wounded Smasher just in time to save the X-Men from death at Gladiator's hand. Squorm and Monstra are actually both disabled by Beast, although Wolverine has another go at Monstra later on.
6. What number "Weapon" was the mutant known as Fantomex?

Answer: Thirteen

It is thought that Fantomex is based on the Italian comic book character Diabolik, who himself was based on Fantomas, the subject of a series of early-20th century French detective thrillers. Weapon Twelve was Zona-Cluster 6; he was eventually killed by Fantomex in the Eurotunnel under the English Channel. Weapon Fifteen is the subject of the "Assault On Weapon X" storyline, and is eventually killed by Wolverine.

In the "Here Comes Tomorrow" storyline, there is some indication that the Stepford Cuckoos were actually Weapon Fourteen, but as that is not mentioned anywhere else in the series it's difficult to draw a final conclusion.
7. Which member of X-Corporation Paris does Fantomex shoot?

Answer: Darkstar

It's possible to argue that Fantomex didn't actually kill Darkstar, however, because she was infected by Weapon Twelve's viral thought processes and had ceased to be herself.
8. What was the art team on the story "Ambient Magnetic Fields"?

Answer: Phil Jiminez and Andy Lanning

All of the art teams mentioned did work on various "New X-Men" storylines - Leon and Sienkiwicz illustrated issues 127 and 131, Van Sciver and Rapmund worked on issue 133, while Quitely and Townsend worked on several issues and a great many cover illustrations.
9. What is the name of the Mutant Llaison Officer who helps Cyclops and Beast investigate the murder of Jumbo Carnation, and who later aids the X-Men in their fight against Magneto?

Answer: Fred Forster

Bob Smitts was a U-Man whose funeral (and subsequent dissection) was interrupted by the Omega Skulls gang. Arthur Swift was the school bully, stereotypical jock, closet homosexual and secret mutant mentioned early in the "Germ-Free Generation" storyline; of course, all we really see of him are his eyeballs, which have been cut out of his head by a wannabe U-Man. Mike Raicht is the name of one of the Assistant Editors on the comic. Subsequently, writers in the "Post-Morrison Era" of X-Men have claimed that it was not Magneto who died in the Planet X storyline, but rather a "Magneto lookalike." They're not fooling anyone.
10. How many years after the end of "Planet X" is the "Here Comes Tomorrow" storyline set?

Answer: 150 years

"Here Comes Tomorrow" contains one of Morrison's favourite tricks - one of the characters breaks the fourth wall. In this case, Cassandra Nova turns and addresses the reader directly. It's something Morrison has done many times before and since in titles such as "The Invisibles", "Vimanarama", "The Filth" and "Animal Man".
