Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which cartoon duck once ran for President of the United States?

Answer: Howard the Duck

In 1973 "Howard the Duck" was created by Steve Gerber. "Howard" was one of the first cartoon ducks that was not meant to just get laughs by having wild fits. He was a superhero duck at first, but later the character turned to more dark humor. Disney sued "Howard the Duck" for being to much like "Donald Duck", causing "Howard" to start dressing different to change the character's appearance.
2. Which famous duck co-starred in "Space Jam" in 1996 when it was released to movie theaters?

Answer: Daffy Duck

Daffy along with other Looneytoon characters starred with Michael Jordon in this animated mvie. They had to play basketball against an alien all-star team to save the Earth. After getting way behind in the first half, they rallied to win at the final buzzer, guess who made the winning shot? Watch this delightful movie and see.
3. What cartoon duck was produced by Amblin Entertainment, the production company owned by producer/director Steven Spielberg?

Answer: Plucky Duck

The character "Plucky Duck" was one of the "Tiny Toon" creations. He was the young equivilent of "Daffy Duck" in the series. He was about 14 years old, green, and very cocky. He was a student at "Acme Looniversity" where "Daffy Duck" was his favorite teacher and role model. He became a superhero called "The Toxic Revenger" and would fight industrial pollutors and other badguys.
4. What superhero duck was created by "Disney Studios" in 1991?

Answer: Darkwing Duck

"Darkwing Duck" was also very self confident. He protected the metropolis called St. Canard. He was funny and his show also had some interesting turns of events in it. His first show was April 6th, 1991 on the "Disney Channel." The first show was called "Darkly Dawns the Duck", and was an hour long.

He was called "The Terror that flaps in the Night." The regular 1/2 hour series started September 7th, 1991 and ran for 90 episodes. It can still be seen in reruns on the "Toon Disney" channel.
5. What "Terrytoons" duck was created in 1939 to try to take viewers away from Disney's "Donald Duck" and Warner Brothers' "Daffy Duck" cartoons?

Answer: Dinky Duck

This duck never caught on with the cartoon crowd and only 15 cartoons were ever made. He was, however, a regular character on the "Heckle and Jeckle Show".
6. What Disney duck hosted NBC's showing of old theatrical cartoons?

Answer: Ludwig Von Drake

He was both host and announcer for this show. He was created in 1961 and had a German accent, and was an inventor. He was an uncle of "Donald Duck" just like "Scrooge McDuck".
7. Which of the following is a show created especially for "Donald Duck's" family, especially his nephews and "Uncle Scrooge"?

Answer: DuckTales

Donald's nephews "Huey, Dewey, and Louie" along with his uncle "Scrooge McDuck" appeared most ofen on "DuckTales". Their major opponents were "Magica deSpell", "Flintheart Glomgold", and especially "The Beagle Boys" and their mom. They were always trying to steal "Scrooge McDuck's" riches. They wore prison stripe uniforms and masks that looked somewhat like "The Lone Ranger's".
8. What scout-like organization did "Huey, Dewey, and Louie" become members of?

Answer: The Junior Woodchucks

They had uniforms and an official scoutbook, which they consulted when they got into a jam. It seemed that there was a chapter on how to deal with most anything in the "Junior Woodchuck" manual.
9. What small yellow duck with green wings was created by the "Hanna-Barbera" studios?

Answer: Yakky Doodle

The character "Yakky Doodle" first appeared in "Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy" in 1960. He also was in "Tom and Jerry", and had a segment in the newly created "Yogi Bear" show at the time in 1961. When this show ran it's course, he was mostly seen in reruns an an occasional special.
10. What young duck is best described as "huge, clumsy, and innocently destructive"?

Answer: Baby Huey

Baby Huey was created in 1949 by Marty Taras. He was about 6 feet tall and 1-3 years old, I'm not sure exactly. He had a blue baby bonnet and wore a diaper. His father was a short, angry duck that got very mad at "Baby Huey" very often. His mother would at best be described as a ding-bat, but she loved "Baby Huey" very much.

The main theme of "Baby Huey" was him getting into some kind of trouble all the time. Luckily his huge size kept him from getting hurt in his misadventures. This is another very funny character you should watch if given the opportunity.
