So what is a 'catalogue'?
One meaning of 'catalogue' is a list of items such as the books owned by a library, or the things owned by a museum.
A catalogue may also be a kind of book, usually with pictures, that has things in it that you can buy. Lots of people buy clothes from catalogues, but you can buy things like toys and books too - in fact you can buy almost anything from a catalogue.
'Catalogue' is how we spell it in the UK, but in the USA they spell it 'catalog'.
2. CATaract
Answer: A waterfall
A 'cataract' is another word for 'waterfall', especially where there is a steep drop in the level of a river bed and the flowing water causes a waterfall. The River Nile has many cataracts.
Another meaning of cataract is when the lens of somebody's eye becomes cloudy, maybe because of age or disease, and they can't see properly any more. This can usually be fixed quite easily by surgery.
3. CATastrophe
Answer: A disaster
A 'catastrophe', (which is pronouced 'cat ASS tro fee'), is when something awful happens, usually on a large scale. Something like an avalanche or a fire that does a lot of damage could be described as a catastrophe.
4. CATegory
Answer: A type
A 'category' is a 'type'. For example, you might decide you want to tidy up your toys, and a good way to do it might be sort them out so that you have all the same things sorted into one category.
This could mean putting all your dolls on one shelf, your mechanical toys in a box and your books on another shelf (and you could also sort each group into yet more categories. Think of your books - you could sort them into story books, information books and comics).
Organising things into categories makes it easier to find what you're looking for.
5. CATkin
Answer: A flower
'Catkins' are the long, slender flowers of trees such as hazels, birches and willows. They usually hang in bunches, and are pollinated by the wind.
6. CATnap
Answer: A sleep
A 'catnap' is when somebody has a brief sleep during the day. It doesn't usually last all that long, maybe half an hour, but it can be very refreshing. Cats do it all the time!
7. CATcall
Answer: Booing
When somebody 'catcalls', they are being very rude and shouting insults. They might do this if, for example, they were at a football match or a theatre and didn't like what they were watching.
8. CopyCAT
Answer: Imitator
If somebody is a 'copycat' it means that they are copying or imitating what someone else is doing. This could be fun, as part of a game, for example, but it could also mean that they are cheating and copying someone else's work.
9. CATarrh
Answer: A stuffy nose
It can be horrid when you have 'catarrh'. Your nose may be all stuffed up with it, so that you can't breathe properly. Usually it will happen because you've got a cold, but sometimes it's just something that happens. Fortunately there are things you can get which will help to clear it up.
10. CATapult
Answer: A slingshot
A 'catapult' is usually a small hand-held weapon made from a forked stick, with a band of something stretchy and elastic fastened to the forks. The idea is that you put something like a small stone into the band, hold it tight and pull it as hard as you can. Then you let go, and the stone should fly away at whatever you are using as a target.
Please be careful if you try this. You should NEVER aim at any living creature, or use a catapult when there is anyone in the way who might get hit.
There were also very large catapults, called ballistas, mangonels and trebuchets, that were used during the Middle Ages when armies were attacking castles. They all worked in different ways, but the idea was to throw large objects at - or over - the walls, to cause as much damage as possible.
