Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A pipe in your house has a water leak. Who would you call that you could trust to fix it?

Answer: Plumber

A plumber deals with everything related to water. As well as fixing leaks they install bathrooms and sort out where all the pipes and tanks go in new houses. Quite often they install heating systems as well.
2. You're off on holiday and you have a car booked to take you to the airport. Who would you trust to drive you there safely?

Answer: Chauffeur

A chauffeur drives cars for a living. Some people hire a chauffeur to drive them in their own car all the time. Others hire a car and driver for a special occasion like going to an airport on holiday or for a special night out.
3. There have been a lot of burglaries in your area. Who do you trust to catch the burglars?

Answer: Police officer

Police officers are there to keep us all safe. Not only do they catch criminals, they also patrol the streets to deter crime, and to generally help the public. They don't all wear a uniform. Some wear normal clothes and these are usually called detectives.
4. Which part of your body do you have to trust an optician to take good care of?

Answer: Eyes

Opticians do far more than test your eyesight. Their machines can look right into your eye and make sure it is healthy. Examination of the eyes can also sometimes show up other problems like diabetes or high blood pressure.
5. If you have to have an operation who is the person you trust to do it?

Answer: Surgeon

Surgeons are the people who are trained to carry out operations. They have all had the same medical training as other doctors, but have then chosen to do further training to specialise in surgery. Some operate on only certain parts of the body, like hearts. Others may do only cosmetic surgery, or operate only on stomach problems. They are all highly skilled at what they do.
6. You have gone to a nice restaurant for a meal. Who do you trust to make sure the food is nice?

Answer: Chef

The chef is the chief cook in a restaurant kitchen. Depending on the size of the restaurant he or she may have several assistants who chop vegetables and help with the preparation of the food, but the final responsibility for making sure the food is nice is his (or hers).
7. A solicitor is the person you would trust if you were doing what?

Answer: Drawing up your will

A solicitor (lawyer) will deal with all your legal matters. These include making your will, buying and selling property, divorce, arguments with your neighbours, that sort of thing. A general family solicitor will not usually get involved with defending or prosecuting criminals in court cases, or with the legal things associated with big companies.

There are specialists for both of those areas of law.
8. You decide you are going to build a new house. Who do you trust to draw up the plans for you?

Answer: Architect

An architect is the person who draws up the plans that show what a new house will look like. This includes the floor plan for the inside of the house as well as the design of the outside. An architect will make sure that it complies with all local building regulations, and he or she will usually get the planning permission from the local council for you as well.
9. In a game of football (soccer) you feel you've been fouled. Who is the person you have to trust to make the right decision on this?

Answer: Referee

A referee is the person in charge of a game of football. He decides whether or not a foul has been committed, and if a yellow or red card is needed. He also decides on whether or not a penalty should be awarded. He has assistants on each side of the pitch who indicate offside and who he can consult if he did not have a good view of the incident. These are known as linesmen.
10. You trust a lifeguard to keep you safe in what sort of environment?

Answer: Where there is water

Lifeguards are on duty where there is water. This could be the local swimming pool, the beach or a large lake used for recreational purposes. They look out for people in trouble. They are trained in first aid and life saving swimming techniques. They often sit on top of a large watchtower so they have a very good view of everything going on.
