Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Wanted: Skilled impersonator to infiltrate a top-secret police conference. Must be able to do a perfect impression of Inspector Gadget.

Answer: Presto Change-O

The episode "The Infiltration" features a quick-change artist, Presto Change-O, "the human chameleon," who has been recruited by Claw to pretend to be Gadget and thus gain access to a secret Interpol meeting -- which meets yearly to discuss and devise new ways to thwart Claw.

Naturally, if the unseen mastermind knows his nemesis' plans in advance, he will be unstoppable. The impostor manages to trick even Chief Quimby, but when the two Gadgets both enter the conference room, the real Inspector's perpetual clumsiness exposes which one is the phony.
2. Wanted: Expert thief to assist in stealing a valuable coin collection. Expert snake-handler preferred.

Answer: Professor Venom

In the episode "Snakin' All Over" (a pun on "Shakin' All Over," a popular song), Claw has his sights on the world's most valuable coin collection, which is about to be put up for auction. He plans to replace the coins with fakes and take the real ones. To this end, he enlists the help of one Professor Venom, who will not only act as the auctioneer, but whose well-trained snakes will stealthily switch the coins -- and the poisonous snake will give Gadget a deadly bite.
3. Wanted: Experienced television emcee to host a "game show" that will secretly turn contestants into criminals. Energetic personality and plastic smile required.

Answer: The Quiz-Master

"Quiz-Master," the most popular new game show that films right in Metro City, is actually a scheme of Claw's, and for some reason, everyone who's been a contestant is later arrested for burglary. In the show, the host, known only as the Quiz-Master, asks a few easy questions, then for the grand-prize round, sends the player into the "Cone of Seclusion." In the cone, while the contestant is hypnotized by the flashing lights, Claw gives them a post-hypnotic suggestion (such as "you will rob the bank").
4. Wanted: Scientist's assistant to help with a machine that causes nightmares, and present commercials for a related device. Must be currently employed by a television station or broadcaster.

Answer: Bert Sweetley

In the second-season episode "MAD Dreams Are Made of This" (a pun on the song title "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"), Claw has employed the help of evil scientist Dr. Spectrum, and Bert Sweetley, an employee of the local Channel 3 TV station. Spectrum's bad-dream machine broadcasts a mysterious wave that induces vivid nightmares so that people fall asleep during the day, leaving MAD free to plunder the city. To make additional money, Claw enlists product pitchman Sweetley to advertise Dr. Spectrum's "Dream-Away Machine," which counteracts the bad-dream waves.
5. Wanted: Skilled artist and engraver to design counterfeit money. Precision and attention to fine details are required.

Answer: Squint

The episode "Funny Money," named for a slang term for counterfeit money, features the so-called Funny Money Gang, who are already doing time. One member, called Inky, runs the money-printing presses (hence his nickname), while the actual forgeries are expertly designed by the extremely nearsighted (and aptly named) Squint. Claw helps bust the money-launderers out of jail so they can design and print millions and millions of perfectly counterfeited dollars -- enough to fund MAD for years.
6. Wanted: Talented movie actress to distract Inspector Gadget while other criminal agents spy on a secret military base. Ideal candidate is beautiful and an accomplished leading lady.

Answer: Lana Lamour

In "Movie Set," Lana Lamour is the leading lady of a movie that's being filmed right near a top-secret military installation -- but the "movie" is a ruse, and the star is actually working for MAD. Claw's idea is to have the movie crew film the military site, while Lana distracts Gadget, always one to fall for a pretty face. Sure enough, he is immediately love-struck and distracted, so it's up to Penny and Brain to make sure that Gadget is safe from Lana's wiles and that no secrets are stolen. (Younger players: Did you know? Lana Lamour is a parody of Lana Turner, who was a beautiful and very famous movie-star.)
7. Wanted: Scientist / alchemist to decipher secret formula that turns lead into gold. Knowledge of Ancient Greek language and culture is a must.

Answer: Dr. Daedalus

The episode "Did You Myth Me?" (obviously punning on "did you miss me") features an ancient tablet that explains the method for turning ordinary lead into pure gold. Claw gives the assignment to a scientist named Dr. Daedalus (named after the father of Icarus, from Greek mythology), who knows about the legendary formula. So Gadget is sent to a Greek island where a new museum about Ancient Greece is soon to open -- and this is the same place where Daedalus is working on figuring out the tablet that contains the alchemy formula. And it seems to work -- until the "gold bar" falls on the ground and breaks, revealing it's actually still solid lead.
8. Wanted: Owner of exclusive island resort to destroy other hotels and create a monopoly. Applicants should be good swimmers and know how to handle explosives.

Answer: Ricardo

Every now and then, Claw's plans seem like they're more trouble than they're worth, but we'll give him credit for creativity. In "A Bad Altitude" (punning "a bad attitude"), Gadget's assignment from Quimby is actually incorrect -- the Chief says that Claw's idea is to blow up other hotels on the island unless they pay him the money he demands.

In actuality, Ricardo -- the owner of a fancy hotel, the highest one on the island -- is working with Claw to just plain sink the entire rest of the island, leaving only his (Ricardo's) hotel and the new luxury hotels Claw plans to build. Cornering the luxury-hotel market doesn't seem like the most effective way to get rich, and Penny figures out a way to sink Claw's plans instead of the island -- by causing Ricardo to detonate his own hotel.
9. Wanted: An Inspector Gadget lookalike to commit various crimes so that the real Inspector will go to jail. Mechanical parts are permitted but not required for interested impostors.

Answer: Robo-Gadget

Claw also tried using a phony Inspector Gadget in an earlier episode, "The Infiltration," but had used a live impersonator to do the job. Robo-Gadget appears in "Doubled Agent" (a pun on the phrase "double agent"), in which an unnamed MAD scientist creates a mechanical, metal fake. Nobody seems to notice the obvious flaws in its appearance, but once Penny figures out what's going on, she reprograms the robot and takes control of it.
10. Wanted: Gorgeous woman to help incite a revolution in a small kingdom whose ruler is required to always be unhappy. Interested applicants need to be charming, soft-spoken and have a good sense of humor.

Answer: Labella

In the episode "King Wrong," the titular king is ruler of Pianostan, a fictional little kingdom with a very strange tradition: As long as the king is miserable, his subjects are content, but if he is ever happy, they'll revolt and have the king killed.

As it so happens, King Wrong is a dead-ringer for Inspector Gadget. Claw's plan is to use a beautiful agent named Labella to entertain the king, then switch him with Gadget when it's time for the execution.
