Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these presents did Harry receive for Christmas in any of the books?

Answer: Invisibility Cloak

He got the invisibility cloak from Dumbledore at Christmas. His Nimbus Two-thousand was not exactly a present: he only got it because he got on the quidditch team. 'The Monster Book of Monsters' was a birthday present from Hagrid. Hedwig is, of course, his owl, which he also got on his birthday.
2. When Sirius revealed that he was the one who gave Harry a Firebolt to cover thirteen years' worth of birthday and Christmas presents in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', he told Harry in a letter which vault he owned. Which vault?

Answer: 711

Vault 713 was the vault containing the Philosopher's Stone till Hagrid removed it on Harry's birthday, which was the day the vault was robbed. Vault 687 is Harry's vault. Sirius sent the gold directly to Harry's vault.
3. The Dursleys constantly ignore Harry's birthday completely. However, they give him Christmas presents, which get worse during the series. Which of these have the Dursleys never given to Harry for Christmas?

Answer: A coat hanger

He received a coat hanger for one of his early birthdays. He received a toothpick in his second year. He received a 50p pence in his first year. He received a single tissue in his fourth year.
4. '"Will you look at this? I've got some presents!" Harry said. "What did you expect, ____?" said Ron. (From 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.')

Answer: Turnips

This was said in his first year, before Harry had had any proper presents from anyone!
5. Which of these presents were not from Sirius?

Answer: Marauder's map

Although Sirius helped create the Marauder's map, he did not give it to Harry - Fred and George did. Pig was unnamed when Ron got him at the end of 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. Harry's firebolt was anonymous when he got it at Christmas; and for Christmas in the sixth book, Sirius gave him the mirror which James and he used to use when they were in separate detentions.
6. Harry never got a birthday present from Dumbledore.

Answer: true

The closest he got to giving Harry a present was when he sent Harry the invisibility cloak that belonged to his father, for Christmas.
7. Harry, Ron and Hermione got a present from Nearly Headless Nick after they went to his 500th deathday party.

Answer: false

The party was awful: they missed the Halloween feast, the food was for ghosts only and the band sounded horrible!
8. Who gave Harry some books to use for the DA (Dumbledore's Army) as a Christmas present in 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'?

Answer: Sirius and Lupin

The DA was Hermione's idea, but Harry was the leader. They created it because Umbridge wasn't letting them do any Defense Against the Dark Arts, so Dumbledore couldn't create an army of students. That was why it was called Dumbledore's Army.
9. Did Harry get a watch from Mrs Weasley on his seventeenth birthday because it is traditional, in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'?

Answer: yes

It was second hand, because the Weasleys are very poor (no offense, Weasleys).
10. What did Lavender give to Ron at Christmas in 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'?

Answer: A thick, gold chain with 'My Sweetheart' written on it.

Ron was lucky Fred and George never found out!
