Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the story take place?

Answer: Who-ville

All the Whos in Who-ville love Christmas, except for the mean Grinch who hated everything about it.
2. Where did the Grinch get his Santa suit?

Answer: He made it himself

The Grinch made the whole Santa suit himself, but failed to make a pair of Santa pants.
3. In one part of the book the Grinch mentioned his age. What was it?

Answer: 53

While the Grinch was reminiscing about everything the Whos would do on Christmas, he mentioned he had been putting up with it for fifty-three years and obviously couldn't take anymore.
4. While he was stealing a household's Christmas tree, the Grinch tricked a little who girl into thinking he was Santa Clause. Who was this little girl?

Answer: Cindy-Lou Who

To get rid of her, the Grinch gave Cindy-Lou a cup of water and sent her to bed.
5. In what part of Who-ville did the Grinch live?

Answer: North

The Grinch lived 'just north of Who-ville' in a gloomy, old cave hole on a snowy mountain.
6. There was something the Grinch left in the houses he stole from. What was it?

Answer: Crumbs too small for their mouses

The Grinch's sleigh was packed with decorations and presents by the end of his mission, you can imagine it was, with so many houses he stole from.
7. Where was the Grinch going to dump all of the Whos' items?

Answer: Off of Mt. Crumpit

Instead of hearing them sing, the Grinch wanted to drop the whole bundle of Christmas decor to hear the Whos cry about the loss of their items, but was shocked to see they still had the spirit of Christmas in them, which was something the Grinch could never steal.
8. The Grinch had brought his pet, Max, along with him as a mock reindeer. What kind of animal was Max?

Answer: A dog

The Grinch tied a fake antler on poor Max's head and made him drag his sleigh through the whole city. Poor Max must have been exhausted.
9. What did the Whos do when they saw all their Christmas-themed items were stolen?

Answer: They started to sing

The Whos didn't care that their items had been stolen. They still tried to make the most of the holiday.
10. What happened after the Grinch heard how the Whos responded to the loss of their Christmas items?

Answer: His heart grew three sizes

At the end of the story, the Grinch became friends with the Whos and even had Christmas dinner with them. It's ironic that the thing the Grinch hated the most about Christmas (the singing) was the thing that made him realize it wasn't all about the decorations and presents.

Many people are like the Grinch, many say that they hate Christmas for one reason or another. But I believe that, like the Grinch, their hearts are just too small.
