Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What type of creature is Snook?

Answer: A sloth

A sloth is a slow moving arboreal (meaning they live in trees) mammal. They are herbivores and eat things like leaves, shoots and fruits. Their habitat is in Central and South America.
2. What kind of creature is Madge?

Answer: A turtle

Madge buries her eggs in the sand. The group of turtle eggs is called a clutch. The incubation temperature determines the sex of the eggs. Warmer temperatures produce male offspring.
3. What kind of bird is Burdette?

Answer: Kestrel

Kestrels are small falcons that usually hover in the air while they search for prey. There are also American falcons and common Eurasian falcons. American falcons have bluish-gray wings.
4. A tree frog lives in the World Tree. What is his or her name?

Answer: Wartz

Red-eyed tree frogs are small amphibians who have adhesive-like disks on their toes. They are native to Central and South America. They normally do not go down to the ground except to mate. Many build foam nests and, therefore, rarely leaves the trees at all.
5. Two of the primates living in the World Tree are related. What is the name of the male?

Answer: Winslow

Winslow is a marmoset. They are small monkeys. They have claws rather than nails on all digits except for the big toe. They live in South and Central America.
6. Bob is another creature in the World Tree. What type of animal is he?

Answer: Anteater

An anteater loves to eat ants and termites. Their sizes range (from tail to nose tip) from 14 inches for the silky anteater to six feet for the giant anteater.
7. A fish lives in the pond at the bottom of the World Tree. What is his or her name?

Answer: Ick

Ick is not only his name but is also the name of a disease a fish can get. Ichthyology is the branch of zoology which deals with fish.
8. Oko also lives in the World Tree. What type of creature is he or she?

Answer: Red-handed howler monkey

Oko is a red-handed howler monkey. Their tails have no hair on the bottom half. That helps them grasp tree limbs to go from place to place or to grasp food. Northern Brazil is where they live. Their teeth help them grind leaves. They have one off-spring at a time.
9. Burdette molts every time she grows. What happens?

Answer: Her old feathers fall out and she gets new feathers.

Molting is important for certain types of creatures. Birds lose feathers and snakes shed skin. Even humans molt to a degree. We shed skin cells every day.
10. The male primate living in the World Tree has a sister. What is her name?

Answer: Smooch

Winslow and Smooch are twin Marmosets. Marmosets typically give birth to twins and, in rare cases, triplets. Single births are also rare. They sleep at night and forage for food during the day.
