Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I have long legs and a long neck I do a beautiful dance I share my name with a machine And I eat fish, berries and plants

Answer: Crane

Cranes eat almost anything depending on what is available at the time they are hungry. They eat amphibians, fish, rodents, insects, berries, plants and grains. Cranes have noisy dances that they perform when trying to attract a mate. They are also a species where both parents raise the babies.
2. I live around water I have sharp teeth and a long tail I can be green or be brown I am a kind of reptile

Answer: Crocodile

Crocodiles are reptiles that can be found in warmer regions throughout the world. The word 'crocodile' comes from an ancient Greek word meaning 'lizard'. Crocodiles have webbed feet which help them to walk in shallow water. They don't use them to propel themselves while swimming, but rather to change direction suddenly when needed. Crocodiles are also unable to stick out their tongues!
3. I am big and I'm brown But I can be black or white I make a 'moo' sound You know what I am, right?

Answer: Cow

Cows are very versatile animals. They can be used for their milk, meat and to pull plows and carts. Their skin can be used for leather and their manure for fire fuel. Some countries consider cows to be sacred. Only cows that have had babies can produce milk.
4. I am cute and I'm furry I'm small and I'm nice I get chased by dogs But I chase mice!

Answer: Cat

Cats' bodies are adapted to be able to kill small prey such as mice, making them a popular choice as a household pet as they can help keep rodents under control. Most cats have good eyesight and hearing but they are unable to taste sugar. They use many different noises and body language to communicate.
5. I live in the ocean I am a type of fish In the circus I can be funny Am I? I wish!

Answer: Clownfish

The clownfish is easily recognisable by its orange body and white, vertical patches (not uniform enough to be called stripes), although some species of clownfish are black, yellow or red. They grow to between ten and eighteen centimetres long, depending on species. They live in warmer waters and feed on small invertebrates.
6. I am the fastest runner But I probably wont eat ya I am a spotted cat I am a _____.

Answer: Cheetah

The cheetah is the fastest land animal. It is also one of the few cats that can't climb.

The cheetah can't retract its claws and has very big nostrils to take in oxygen while it is running. Black markings on the face (beneath the eyes) help the cheetah to be able to see by reducing glare from the sun.
7. I live in the desert I am related to llama I can have one or two humps I can be of use to a farmer

Answer: Camel

Camels can have either one or two humps which are filled with fatty tissue, not water (as was previously believed). The fatty tissue in the hump can convert to an equal amount of water if needed by the camel. Because of this ability to turn fat into water, the camel doesn't need to drink as often as other animals.

This is extremely handy because camels live in the desert and there is not much water around.
8. I am born from an egg And as a grub eat anything green I turn into a butterfly More beautiful than anything else seen

Answer: Caterpillar

Caterpillars eat so much that they are considered an agricultural pest. After they have eaten their fill, they create a cocoon and, after a long rest period, emerge as a moth or butterfly. The cycle starts again when the butterfly or moth lays their eggs.
9. I'm a noisy insect More often heard than seen I share my name with a sport Played by England, Australia and many countries in between

Answer: Cricket

Crickets are related to grasshoppers and katydids.

Only the male crickets make noise and, as they are a nocturnal creature, can keep you up all night when you are trying to sleep. Crickets make their 'chirping' noise by rubbing their wings together. Crickets can also be kept as pets or as food for other pets, such as fish.
10. My name comes from 'raven' And I am a bird I am smart and I'm black When it's quiet, my 'caw' can be heard

Answer: Crow

The name 'crow' comes from the word 'corvus', meaning 'raven'. There are many different types of crows spread throughout the world with many countries having their own unique species. They are considered one of the more intelligent birds and their 'caw' sound is unique to the species.
