1.12 "The Siren Effect" has the famous scene of Rikki's best, worst karaoke ever. But it's Cleo's turn to have moon-fever, and until the moon sets, she is a Siren.

"You don't have to do anything. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me. People like me, adore me: Aren't I adorable?"

In 1.15 "The Big Chill", Emma had management of the JuiceNet Café for the weekend, and Cleo talked her into hiring Rikki for two days.

Rikki was to be at work at precisely 7:25am. When she walked in at 7:31:10, the first thing Emma could say was, "You're six minutes and ten seconds late."

Rikki perceived that it was like she was back in elementary school and responded with this great sarcastic line.

In 1.16 "Lovesick", Cleo's dad actually thought she was trying to elope with Zane, and accused her of lying, and grounded her.

When she needed to go out, Kim was there to taunt her, "Aren't you grounded?"

To which Cleo retorted, "Aren't you a waste of space?"

In 1.05 "Something Fishy", the Miss Sea Queen pageant had one silly costume after another, with Mrs. Geddes doting over every participant. And when Miriam came out in a ludicrous mermaid costume, Rikki looked at her empty popcorn bag and said, "I might need this bucket to vomit in."

It's kind of strange that Mrs. Geddes, a Marine Park manager, wouldn't understand a Portuguese Man-of-War.

Rikki also said, "I think I'm going to vomit." when she walked into the café on Valentine's Day and saw all the traditional decorations Zane was setting up.

In 1.11 "Sink or Swim", Byron and Emma would have the first "official" kiss in the show - among the mermaids anyway. (First official actually goes to Zane and Miriam.)

And here's innocent little-girl Cleo shoving Emma into the JuiceNet, eager to hear all the steamy details. You know what it is - it's the first time one of her girlfriends kissed a boy for real, and she wanted to know what it was like.

Isn't Cleo just too much?

Interestingly, the very next episode is 1.12 "The Siren Effect", and with Lewis, Cleo did close her eyes, and so on and so forth.

In 1.19 "Hurricane Angela", Lewis and the three mermaids were searching for the pelican. As Lewis stepped out of the kitchen, he said, "Oh yuck...there's poo on my shoe."

One fan collected all her favourite funny scenes into a YouTube video, with this one titled, "Lewis the Poet".

In 1.16 "Lovesick", Cleo's Mom overheard Cleo talking on the phone with Mitch, the dolphin trainer, about Ronnie. From the words so casually used on the one side of the conversation Bev eavesdropped, she thought Cleo had a boyfriend. Bev thought it was so charming, and whispered to Kim, "Cleo's got a boyfriend."

Kim looked with a grimace after Cleo ran upstairs, and said, "But, she's so...ugly."

What a sister. Yes, I love you too, Kim.

Ironically, Kim is the only one who ever described Cleo as pretty.

In 1.15 "The Big Chill", Emma just accidentally snap-froze Miriam. It could happen to anyone - anyone with mermaid powers, that is.

Emma called Cleo in, and Cleo called Lewis. When Lewis assessed the situation, Cleo said to him, "This is a catastrophe, right?" Just look at her beautiful eyes when she says that.

The funniest thing with Cleo in Season 1 has got to be her incredible child-like innocence. And of course the slap to that is the ridiculously juvenile 16th birthday party that her dad put on.

You have to love Cleo. She's so cute, and she's the lovable loser we can all relate to. Poor little girl: Her dad treats her like a child. She can't swim, she can't sing, and she can't even fold towels. Her best friend is a boy she's known since she was five. And while Cleo is consistently the best-dressed, an observant fan will notice that she doesn't even have pierced ears!

In 1.23 "In Too Deep", Rikki had found Julia's locket for sale at a jeweller's, and was trying to raise $250 to buy it. She appealed to Lewis for a contribution, and promptly grabbed all the money in his wallet. When she asked if he had any ideas to raise the remaining $200, Lewis enjoyed a moment of sweet revenge.

Rikki: [grabs money] Thank you. Great. This nearly gets us a deposit, and then we only need $200 after that. Any ideas?
Lewis: Yes...ah, window cleaning... bikini car washing...
Rikki: [waving her finger] Oh, you are funny. You are hysterical.

The scene is quite delightful, as Rikki has an idea to once again play upon Lewis' interest in Cleo. And as she successfully appeals to him on Cleo's behalf, Lewis makes it his personal mission to raise the money. And he washed five cars, got a loan from his brother, and sold his gym set -- for Cleo.

Author's note: In the flashback scene on the dock, I really liked how Louise and Gracie were dressed.

Well, we just couldn't let this one go to waste. The only place to find a silly line from Emma would be 1.07 "Moon Spell", but if I did, it would spoil this line that I was saving for the end.

That line of Byron's to top off the episode was just too much.
