2. Rodeo
Answer: Saddle
There is something called "bareback riding" where participants do not use saddles, but some other rodeo events require the participants to use a saddle on the horses that they ride. Rodeos are popular sporting events in the Americas, and Australia.
3. Baseball
Answer: Bat
Baseball players use a bat to try to hit a ball that is thrown towards them by the pitcher on the opposing team. If they get a hit into the field, they are allowed to run the bases. If they manage to run past three bases and arrive at the fourth, or "home base" safely, their team earns one point.
4. Golf
Answer: Club
People who play golf use a variety of clubs to hit a small ball around an open course while they aim to get the ball in a small hole. The clubs vary in angle and the material from which they are made because each has a different action on the balls when hit. If a player needs the ball to be gently tapped into the hole that is only a metre (yard) or two away, they will choose a different club than if they have to drive it hundreds of metres (yards) towards the hole.
5. Artistic Gymnastics
Answer: Vault
The vault is only one piece of equipment used in gymnastics. Some gymnastics events are only open to either men or women. For example, in the Olympics, women participate in the floor, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam events. Men participate in the floor, vault, rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Each event requires a different set of equipment.
6. Ice Hockey
Answer: Puck
In ice hockey, the puck is a hard rubber disc that is 1 inch (25 mm) thick, 3 inches (76 mm) in diameter. One puck is on the ice at a time as opposing teams try to pass it around using special sticks to shoot the puck into the other team's goal.
7. Archery
Answer: Arrow
People who participate in archery need both a bow and arrows. The bow is used to shoot the arrow towards a target. Winners are determined by whoever shoots their arrow closest to the target.
8. Rowing
Answer: Boat
Rowing is a sport that can be for one person or many in the boat at the same time. All types need a boat that is fitted with oars or paddles that participants use to race their boat across the water.
9. Curling
Answer: Broom
In curling, teams slide smooth rocks along ice rinks in an attempt to get as many of their stones near a target without getting hit out by the opposing team. Participants use brooms to heat the ice slightly, which in turn makes it more slick in the spot that has been brushed. This makes the rock slide straighter towards the target.
10. Ping Pong
Answer: Table
Ping pong, or table tennis, is played with a small ball. Players use paddles to hit the ball back and forth on the table. The table is set up to almost look like a small tennis court with a short net in the centre.
