Answer: Tiger

The tiger is the largest of the 'big cats' and is striped black and orange. They live in the jungles of Asia and mostly eat meat but sometimes eat fruit and other vegetation. In rare cases tigers will attack and eat humans, but this doesn't happen very often at all.

Answer: Giant Panda

The giant panda is a big, black and white bear-like animal. They have black legs, eye 'patches', ears and shoulders but the rest of their body is white. They eat bamboo even though their digestive system is designed, like other mammals, to eat meat. Because bamboo doesn't give them much energy, pandas eat more than 10kg per day and don't actually move around too much.

Answer: Lemur

Lemurs are native to the island nation of Madagascar, off the eastern coast of Africa. Lemurs can be as small as 30 grams or weigh up to 9 kg and, before humans first landed on Madagascar (almost 2,000 years ago), lemurs could grow to be the size of a gorilla!

Answer: Toucan

Toucans are small birds with short, thick necks and large, colourful beaks which can measure more than half the length of their body. Toucans mostly eat fruit and have very long tongues - helpful for reaching out of the way places that other birds can't get to for food.

Answer: Butterfly

Butterflies come in many different colours, shapes and sizes. They are mostly found in tropical areas where the air is humid. If the air is too dry, a butterfly's wings will dry out and it will die. They lay eggs which hatch into caterpillars, the caterpillar in turn spins a cocoon around itself and morphs into a butterfly (after a period of time).

Answer: Anaconda

Anacondas are found in South America and live near the water - which is handy because they eat fish, birds and small rodents that live near the water. The anaconda kills its prey by wrapping itself around the animal and crushing it to death.

Answer: Sloth

The sloth is a strange-looking animal with very long claws that gives it a very effective way of defending itself. It also uses the claws to hang onto tree branches. Did you know that sloths only go to the bathroom about once a week?

Answer: Gorilla

Gorillas are a type of primate that is very closely related to humans. Gorillas walk using their arms and legs but sometimes walk on only their back legs. The Eastern gorilla is a darker colour than the Western gorilla, but the mountain gorilla is the darkest colour of all the gorillas.

Answer: Spider

Spiders can be either arboreal (they live off the ground - such as in trees) or terrestrial (they live on the ground). Most ground-dwelling spiders don't spin webs, they create a nest to live in and trap their food. Arboreal spiders spin webs to catch their prey. They then wrap up the food in spider silk and wait for it to decay enough to eat.

Answer: Jaguar

The jaguar only eats meat and preys on 87 different types of animals - although not all at once! The jaguar looks similar to a cheetah but doesn't catch its prey like a cheetah. The jaguar ambushes its prey rather than chasing it.
