Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We'll start off with a geographical question. Two of the points in the triangle are at Miami and Bermuda. Where is the third point?

Answer: San Juan

When connecting Miami, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda, the result is a triangle. Although some strange things happen outside of this shape, it all leads back to the mysterious waters inside. There are many theories about why so many people, planes, and ships disappear here.
2. Which of these is NOT a theory explaining the Bermuda Triangle disappearances?

Answer: Nuclear Testing Facility

Those that are skeptical about the Bermuda Triangle mystery developed a practical theory, which states that methane gas that has been built up on the ocean floor can create whirlpools and waterspouts, sinking ships and downing planes. However, some believe that there is a time ripple in the center of the Bermuda Triangle, where all missing planes and ships go to another dimension.

This time ripple, according to the theory, is how UFOs get to earth.
3. What famous explorer documented strange occurrences in the Bermuda Triangle?

Answer: Christopher Columbus

In his journals, Columbus wrote about strange mists that would pop up out of nowhere. Even his compass was acting strange; it would spin in circles non-stop for no apparent reason. He even wrote about lights in the sky that would fly down into the water.
4. Which America politician's daughter supposedly disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle?

Answer: Aaron Burr

Theodosia Burr disappeared in the early 19th century. Although some theories claim that the ship she was on, The Patriot, was captured by pirates, and that even she herself ran off with a lover, the Bermuda Triangle is often blamed. The Patriot had to sail through it on a voyage, and was never heard from again.
5. What was the name of the famous ship that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle in 1918?

Answer: Cyclops

The USS Cyclops was scheduled to go through the Bermuda Triangle to reach its destination, but was not scheduled to make any stops along the way. It never made it to port. U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt declared the ship lost and everyone on board deceased on June 1st, 1918.
6. The US government stated in early February, 2014 that the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle was what?

Answer: Fake

The US government said that there was no mystery to it, that bad weather and poor navigational skills were to blame for the disappearances. There are some, however, that do not believe this, and that there is in fact a mystery to the deadly Bermuda Triangle.
7. One of the most famous disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle was that of Flight 19 on December 5th... of what year?

Answer: 1945

Flight 19 was sent on a routine training exercise, taking off from the Florida Keys. After finishing the exercise, they could not find their way back to the Keys, despite following exact coordinates. They maintained radio communications with Fort Lauderdale, saying that they were running low on fuel.

However, after some static, Fort Lauderdale lost all communications with Flight 19, never being heard from again. The wreckage was never recovered.
8. In 1991, the pilot of a Grumman Cougar jet made a radio request, asking to what?

Answer: Increase altitude

Increasing in altitude requires permission in some cases, just like this one. Although, once the pilot was given permission, it all went downhill for him. He simply vanished as he climbed higher in the sky.
9. A ship in 1609 was destroyed by the Bermuda Triangle. Can you finish the name of the ship? The Sea....

Answer: Venture

This ship was supposed to be the first to colonize Bermuda. However, its wreckage was later found. This may have just been a simple storm or accident... or the wrath of the Bermuda Triangle.
10. There have been several ships in the Bermuda Triangle with no one aboard, just floating dead in the water. What are these ships called?

Answer: Ghost ships

One of the most famous ghost ships is the Mary Celeste, which was found on December 4th, 1872. Many theories are still circulating in regard to why the ship was abandoned. Some suspect piracy, while some suspect that the crew was foolish and did not take care of it.

It is true, however, that nine barrels of alcohol on board were empty. However, some find it unlikely that a drunk crew would just jump overboard, even if heavily intoxicated. It still remains a mystery.
