In the end the captain drowns suggesting that he should have listened to those whom he was "leading". CBS did not like the political overtones of the song and banned the performance before the show was aired. Due to outside pressure, they later relented and the song aired on an episode in 1968.

The famous muddy fight scene in the movie "McLintock!" took over a week to film. It lasts about 8-10 minutes in the movie. It includes actress Maureen O'Hara sliding down in the mud pit dressed in all her Victorian era finery. In reality, the mud in this movie was not real mud but rather a substance known as bentonite.

This substance has a consistency similar to that of chocolate milk and is often used in oil drilling. This scene was messy, filthy and delightfully fun!

Dr. Samuel Mudd was an American doctor who treated John Wilkes Boothe after he broke his leg during his assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Nevertheless, he was convicted and imprisoned in 1865 for aiding and conspiring in the assassination.

He was granted a Presidential pardon by Andrew Johnson in 1869 after stopping the spread of yellow fever at the Fort Jefferson prison in the Dry Tortugas.

Despite intensive efforts by his descendants, his conviction has never been overturned.

Adlai Stevenson (1900-1965) was the Democratic Party's nomination for President during the 1952 and 1956 elections. He was defeated by Dwight D. Eisenhower both times.
