Eureka, the county seat of Humboldt County, is located on Humboldt Bay in northern California. The city was founded in the 1850s, its location providing a harbor for gold miners in the nearby Trinity region.

The county seat of Erie County, Pennsylvania, Erie is located on the shores of Lake Erie. Noted for its manufacture of railway locomotives, Erie is traditionally regarded as being part of the Rust Belt or Manufacturing Belt, which stretches from Wisconsin to New York.

East Rutherford is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey. It is famous for two sporting venues - MetLife Stadium, home to both the New York Giants and New York Jets of the NFL; and Meadowlands Racetrack, venue for the Hambletonian Stakes, one of the most famous harness horse races in the USA.

The county seat of Chemung County, Elmira was named after its first inhabitant, Abraham Miller, who built a cabin there in the late 18th century. President Richard Nixon declared Elmira a disaster area in the aftermath of the 1972 floods.
