Chandragupta Maurya founded the empire around 322 BC. He first conquered the Nanda dynasty which ruled Patliputra, located near Bihar. By 316 BC the empire had fully occupied north-western India.

Answer: Babur

Babur was born in 1483 in Andijan in modern Uzbekistan. A highly successful military adventurer, he established a formidable power base in Kabul from 1504 onwards. From there, he went on to defeat the Lodi dynasty in the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, conquer the Delhi Sultanate and establish the Mughal Empire.

Babur wrote his memoirs, the "Baburnama", which are a key source for information on his life. He died in 1531 in his capital at Agra.

Answer: Qutubuddin Aibak

Originally Qutubuddin Aibak was a slave. Because of his merit and loyal service he was raised to the post of Viceroy of Mohamad Ghori. After Ghori's death, Aibak ruled over Delhi and founded his own dynasty. Lahore (now in Pakistan) and later Delhi was his capitals. For his generosity he was given the title of Lakh Baksh (meaning that he was very kind and generous).

He also constructed two mosques: Quwat-ul-Islam in Delhi and Adhai din ka Jhopra in Ajmer. He ruled Delhi from 1206 to 1210.
