1. What is a marsupial?

Answer: mammal with pouch

Kangaroos, and also many other Australian animals, are marsupials. An animal that stays awake at night is a nocturnal animal.
2. What is a samlet?

Answer: young salmon

Young Salmon (a type of fish) are called samlet. Salmon is a plural itself. It is a single and a plural.
3. What exactly is a drey?

Answer: squirrel's nest

The squirrel went back to his drey to bring his children their food.
4. What is a leman?

Answer: a lover

Leman - lover, sweetheart, unlawful lover or mistress. This is not a commonly used word, people would use 'lover' a lot more. This word is used in Romance novels sometimes, too.
5. If something is said to be terete, what is it?

Answer: smooth and rounded

The terete ball is not rough, which makes it easier to keep hold of. Terete balls are not as easy to catch.
6. What is (a) whare?

Answer: Maori hut or house

Maori people are native to New Zealand. Aboriginal people are native to Australia. Maori is pronounced Mow-rie.
7. If I confer something, what have I just done?

Answer: granted

I shall confer the favour that you ask of me. Confer - grant.
8. What is a dong?

Answer: a deep sound from a large bell

Believe it or not, dong is just that, the onomatopoeic sound of a bell. You might have thought that it had some other meaning, but it doesn't. The Australian wild dog is a dingo. The Dong is also a currency used in Vietnam.
9. If somebody is senescent, then what are they?

Answer: growing old

That woman looks as though she is senescent - and doesn't like it!
10. What is an udometer, or what does it do?

Answer: none of these

An udometer is actually a rain gauge. It is used to measure precipitation. A wet and dry bulb thermometer is called an hydrometer. A normal thermometer is just a normal thermometer. Finally, an anemometer measures wind speed.
