Anthony Breer's story began when he killed himself. He was an evil murderer who was a member of the Tribe of Razor-Eaters. The Last European, Mamoulian, resurrected the murderer and made him his servant. Later Breers' skin was revealed, and his various hooks and rings were exposed.

Technically, Breer was dead as he worked for Mamoulian. His decaying flesh began to stink, and Breer's prey fled at the smell. So he bathed several times a day and covered himself with sandalwood. Whenever the scent of sandalwood was detected, Breer was near.

Carys spent most of her life addicted to drugs and was usually off in her own world. However, she had certain powers. When she was near Marty, she could pick up his emotions, and even his thoughts. She helped Mamoulian find Toy and Whitehead by using her powers.

Mamoulian's past revealed that he was alive in the year 1811. He was a soldier in a foreign war and was almost killed. A monk offered to teach him the spells he possessed. Mamoulian learned them all and was still alive almost two hundred years later.
