"Ender's Game" Quiz 1 (chapters 1-3)

Ender speaks of his desire to be brothers with Peter. Of course, technically they are brothers, but they don't act like it. Ender associated "brothers" as being able to live in the same house- no more fighting.

The doctor is removing Ender's monitor when he (Ender) goes into a state of shock and begins to spasm. The doctor then shouts "Deedee! I need you!" Deedee the nurse comes running back in to help.

Ender comments about how grown-ups must have large stubby fingers and hypothesizes that they can't hardly draw a good spiral on their desk. Then he boasts to himself about how he can draw one with 79 lines and not even touch the sides or overlap them.

Ender speaks of how boring arithmetic is and claims that Valentine taught him arithmetic when he was three. Seeing as he is six when he goes off to Battle School and Valentine is one year older, she was four when teaching him arithmetic.

Ender kicked Stilson square in his breastbone and he fell to the ground. Ender is a One-Hit-Wonder! Ender then realized that Stilson was a bully with talk and didn't take fighting seriously. Ender also realized that unless he finished this now, Stilson's gang would most likely come after him later, so Ender beat up Stilson while he was laying on the ground.

He completely tore him apart and warned Stilson's gang to not come near him again. Believe me...even if Ender hadn't left that day, I'm sure that nobody would have ever bothered him again! Go Ender!

Ender gets home from school and walks into the house. Valentine notices him and comments on how his monitor is gone just when Peter walks in eating peanut butter and bread. Of course, Peter then comments on how Ender was rejected too and laughs that he is now just a third.

Ender talks with himself about if the buggers feel trapped in a mask. But he then figures that if it's their own skin, then they are oblivious to it. He then wonders if buggers put on human masks and play war games too. What would they call us? "Slimies" because we're so soft and oily compared to them.

Peter claims that one day, he's going to kill her and Ender, and Valentine contradicts him by saying that he won't because he wants to get elected for an office in the government and that she's written a letter as testimony that will only be opened once she's dead. It says that Peter killed her and if you are said to do something like that you can't be elected for an office.

Peter will never openly admit that Ender is any smarter or stronger than he is. Peter just insults him about the blood and pretends to not be worried.

His first name is indeed Hyrum. Quite surprising, isn't it? Orson Scott Card only mentions it once in the book. I suppose it's not that important, huh?

Graff explains to Ender that he is a burden to his parents because they were both born religious. Graff then tells him that his father was born as John Paul Wieczorek; Catholic; 7th child out of 9. So it is true, he just doesn't want the information out, which is why Ender always calls his father by "Father".
