Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A beautiful girl with very long golden hair was kept captive in a tower until a prince, attracted by her voice, delivered her. Who was she?

Answer: Rapunzel

"Rapunzel" is one of my favourite tales. In 2010 Walt Disney produced a similar movie but changed the name to "Tangled".
2. In which of the following tales does a boy drink water from a spring and turn into a deer?

Answer: Brother and Sister

The "Brother and Sister" relates the story of a brother and a sister who escaped their witch stepmother. Angry, their stepmother bewitched every spring in the forest.
3. Why could "Hansel and Gretel" not find their way back home the second time?

Answer: Because the birds ate the bread crumbs

The first day, Hansel left a trail of pebbles so they could go back home. The next day, he left a trail of bread crumbs but the birds ate them all. The two kids were lost when they found the delicious house of the witch.
4. In the "Six Swans", for whom was the Queen making six shirts?

Answer: For her brothers

The six swans were in fact the sons of the king but their stepmother cast a spell turning them into swans. To free them, their sister had to make six shirts for each of them.
5. In which tale does a wolf pretend to be a goat mother?

Answer: The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids

It is the story of a smart wolf who threw flour onto himself so he would be white like the mother goat. That's how the kids let the wolf in, and he ate them.
6. Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? So, who is the fairest, really?

Answer: Snow White

This is a well known line. Snow White is the fairest of them all!
7. This tale is similar to the story of the "Six Swans" with twelve brothers who fled to the forest because their mother the Queen gave birth to a girl. Later in the story, the boys were turned into ravens; meanwhile their sister married a king but she stayed dumb to save her brothers. What tale is it?

Answer: The Twelve Brothers

"The Twelve Brothers" is another tale of brothers and sisters and the love they shared. For the girl loved her brothers so much that she dared not speak a word not even against her wicked mother-in-law.
8. In the "Crystal Ball", into what creatures did the enchantress change her sons?

Answer: An eagle and a whale

The enchantress did not trust her sons and so she turned the eldest son into an eagle and the second into a whale. The youngest son, who feared to be turned into a bear, stayed human.
9. The first Disney animated movie was one of Grimm's tales. Which tale was it?

Answer: Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs

Disney produced several animated movies of the Grimm's tales but the first animated movie was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in 1937. The second animated movie was "Pinocchio" in 1940 as well as "Fantasia" while "Cinderella" was in 1950.
10. If I say "Little Glass Slipper", which tale comes to your mind?

Answer: Cinderella

I think "Cinderella" is the best fairy tale of all time and very well appreciated especially by kids. The glass slipper was the clue the prince used to find Cinderella.
