Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You here to finish me off, sweetheart?"

Answer: Peeta Mellark

This line is from "The Hunger Games", when Peeta is hidden with camouflage in the arena. The use of the word "sweetheart" is meant to be a hint to Katniss, as it's a word used by her and Peeta's mentor, Haymitch.
2. "The pair last year ate everything with their hands like a couple of savages."

Answer: Effie Trinket

This is from "The Hunger Games", where Effie is commenting on how well-mannered Peeta and Katniss are compared to the previous year's tributes. Effie Trinket is the representative for District 12 who conducts the choosing of the year's tributes, and takes them to and from the Capitol.
3. "You're a painter. You're a baker. You like to sleep with the windows open. You never take sugar in your tea. And you always double-knot your shoelaces."

Answer: Katniss Everdeen

This line is from "Mockingjay", and it occurs when Katniss is trying to convince Peeta, after he was hijacked, that she cares about him. Peeta asks her to prove what she knows about him, and after some initial hesitation she ends up blurting out a ton of facts even she didn't realise she knew.

These facts seem to help Peeta to make another connection in his mind, leading to him eventually gaining his old memories back.
4. "You've got about as much charm as a dead slug."

Answer: Haymitch Abernathy

This line comes from "The Hunger Games", during the time Haymitch is trying to coach Katniss to get her as many sponsors as possible. Haymitch Abernathy is the mentor for the tributes of District 12. He competed in, and won, the 50th Hunger Games, and has held the role of mentor ever since.

The emotional trauma he sustained throughout the years led to him becoming rather cold and cutting with his words.
5. "Want a sugar cube?"

Answer: Finnick Odair

This infamous line comes from "Catching Fire", and is part of Finnick's self-introduction the first time he meets Katniss while preparing for the games. Finnick Odair is a previous victor, just like Katniss, and is full of self-confidence. When they first meet, he is barely clothed due to the outfit choice for the parade of the tributes.
6. "Katniss, the girl who was on fire."

Answer: Cinna

This line is from "The Hunger Games", and comes from the stylist for Katniss: Cinna. He wanted to make her memorable and so created the "girl on fire" theme. He was described as having gold flecks in his eyes, and was known for being incredibly well styled himself. He is also the person that presented Katniss with the symbolic Mockingjay pin.
7. "Tick Tock."

Answer: Wiress

This comes from "Catching Fire", and is perhaps one of the most famous lines from the entire book. Wiress is the first person to figure out the riddle of the arena, but due to shock from an earlier incident, she can only repeat those two words over and over.

Unfortunately, she doesn't get to say much more thanks to a surprise attack, but her knowledge and actions ensured the safety of the main group of Tributes for the rest of the Games.
8. "Delly lost her temper, she got very squeaky. It was like someone stabbing a mouse with a fork repeatedly."

Answer: Johanna Mason

This line comes from "Mockingjay", and the queen of sarcasm herself: Johanna Mason. The person she's describing is Delly Cartwright, an acquaintance of Peeta and Katniss from District 12. Johanna hails from District 7, known for lumber. Like all the tributes in "Catching Fire", she is a previous victor from the games.
9. "Katniss, there is no District Twelve..."

Answer: Gale Hawthorne

This comes from the climax of "Catching Fire", at the very end of the Quarter Quell. Katniss has just been saved from the arena, but the president had firebombed her home district while she was in the games, due to the rebellion that took place. Most readers were left on a cliffhanger here until the third book came out!
10. "We had to save you because you're the mockingjay, Katniss."

Answer: Plutarch Heavensbee

This quote also comes from the ending of "Catching Fire", and signals the major turning point for the whole series. Plutarch was actually a double agent, working with the other previous victors to help sabotage the game, though Katniss and Peeta are unaware of this fact.

He later was forced to join the rebellion full-time as his actions would have warranted his death if he went back to the Capitol.
