Disney in the 70s Trivia Quiz

This is the least remembered and least recognized period for Disney. Post-Walt and Pre-Michael Eisner. But though nothing from this decade amounted to "Citizen Kane", many of the films were quite charming.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these was NOT a part of the Kurt Russell teenager-turned-superstar trilogy?

Answer: The Barefoot Executive

"The Barefoot Executive" did feature Kurt Russell but was not one of the films in which he played a high school senior who develops some formula that makes him in some way more than human.
2. Who starred in the most Disney comedies from the late 60's to late 70's?

Answer: Dean Jones

Aside from Fred MacMurray, Dean Jones was Disney's favorite leading man. His everyman charm and incredulous "what's going on" stare made him perfect for films like "The Ugly Dacshund" and "Blackbeard's Ghost".
3. What film featured Jodie Foster trying to solve a mystery and dealing with David Niven as a devoted butler who keeps his employer Helen Hayes happy by pretending to also be the gardener and a host of other characters?

Answer: Candleshoe

When I was growing up, if you told anyone that Jodie Foster would grow up to be one of the screen's most important modern actresses with two Oscars under her belt, they would have laughed at you silly.
4. Which film did NOT feature Peter Ustinov?

Answer: The Wild Country

The best of these is "Blackbeard's Ghost". A real treasure!
5. Which of these films featured the political war between supporters of Benjamin Harrison and Grover Cleveland for the presidency?

Answer: One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band

This was an election even closer than the Bush-Gore election, with Harrison winning by electoral votes.
6. Which of these films did not spawn a sequel?

Answer: Condorman

"The Love Bug" spawned 3 sequels, "The Apple Dumpling Gang" spawned 1 plus a tv movie, and "The Shaggy Dog" lead to "The Shaggy D.A."
7. Which of these animated films was NOT made during the 70's?

Answer: The Story of Robin Hood

Trick question. Though "Robin Hood" the animated feature was made in the 70's, "The Story of Robin Hood" was a Disney live-action feature made in the 50's.
8. Which film featured a gang of church ladies and a priest acting as crimefighters to save their parish?

Answer: The North Avenue Irregulars

An overlooked comedy. Really a charming film for the whole family.
9. Which film did the Sherman Brothers NOT compose songs for?

Answer: Pete's Dragon

The Sherman Brothers wrote some of the songs for "Robin Hood" along with Roger Miller. The songs for "Pete's Dragon" were composed by Al Kasha and Jerome Courtland.
10. What is substitutiary locomotion?

Answer: The spell used to repel the Nazis in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"

The best Disney film of the decade. First movie I ever saw.
