Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. During the sword fight between Westley and Inigo, what oddity can be noticed about the terrain?

Answer: A very obvious mat cushions their falls and sends off a cloud of dust

This scene is hilarious. When Westley and Inigo perform their gymnastic feats, the mat raises several inches off the ground and is easily seen.
2. After Westley takes Buttercup from Vizzini, they run across the field; beneath Buttercup's skirt, you can see that she is wearing knee high stockings. After her skirt is burned in the fire swamp she is clearly wearing tights that cover her entire legs. What color were those tights? (They were the same color as her dress.)

Answer: Red

I realize this is a sort of trivial blunder, but I was a big enough geek to watch the movie over 200 times and this was one of the first mistakes I noticed.
3. As Westley wrestles with the R.O.U.S. part of its costume begins to slip and the actor has to quickly pull it back on. Which body part nearly falls off the costume?

Answer: The head

When I was young, the R.O.U.S. gave me nightmares. This comical shot is great proof to all small children who are afraid of the R.O.U.S.'s that they are nothing but actors in costumes.
4. Which inebriated character's hair changes styles with each camera angle after he is doused in alternating buckets of hot and cold water?

Answer: Inigo

His hair is shown in different stages of drying and it falls in different places. Sometimes it is in his face and in other shots it is not.
5. Which toy at the head of the grandson's bed moves as the camera angles change?

Answer: Car

This is a bit nit-picky, but at least I didn't actually find this blooper myself. One of my picky friends pointed it out to me.
6. What is the grandfather accidentally shown opening twice?

Answer: The book cover

The grandfather opens the book one time, then the camera switches to a shot of the grandson. When it cuts back to the grandfather, he puts on his glasses and opens the book again.
7. The movie ends triumphantly, as several characters jump from Prince Humperdinck's window and each is caught by Fezzik. After which character's jump can you see the platform that he/she jumped from at the top of the screen?

Answer: Buttercup

On the DVD, Rob Reiner points this out on the director's commentary.
8. Vizzini informs Fezzik that "his way" of finishing someone off is to hit them in the head with a rock. If you watch closely you'll notice that as Fezzik hurls his rock, it accidentally explodes before ever making contact with another object. Which character had Fezzik been instructed to hit with his rock?

Answer: The man in black

Maybe Fezzik was stuffing dynamite into his rocks before he threw them. It doesn't seem likely though, considering how concerned he was with "his way" not being very sportsmanlike.
9. When he finds Inigo, Fezzik and Westley inside the castle, Count Rugen instructs several guards to "kill the dark one and the giant, but leave the third for questioning." Inigo immediately kills all the guards, but they must have only been "mostly dead" because several of the corpses move. How many guards were there?

Answer: Four

I suppose you could argue that they didn't die immediately, but it's still amusing to see them move.
10. The scene in which Westley, Fezzik, and Inigo sit atop the castle wall and plan their onslaught is jam-packed with humorous mistakes. Which character says "I'll say" without moving his lips (the result of poor looping)?

Answer: Inigo

Perhaps Inigo was an expert ventriloquist as well as a swordsman. If you pay attention, you can see the "stone" wall the characters lean against actually wiggles when weight is placed against it.
