Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "It was my destiny, it's what we needed to do they were telling me, I'm telling you..."

Answer: Long, Long Way From Home

Killer tune from Foreigner's platinum self-titled debut, circa 1977. Lou Graham's vocals on this tune became a trademark of their distinctive sound.
2. "Let me tell ya'll about a time I was down and out, just goes to prove there's always a light on, so I want you all to listen up..."

Answer: Make You a Believer

A nice, upbeat, feelgood tune from Sass Jordan. This is from her LP "Racine", released in 1992. Check her out, she can really wail!
3. "A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile."

Answer: American Pie

Told you it was too easy. Don McLean penned this one back around 1972 and was on both sides of the 45. (That's a record) This timeless classic is a tribute to the late, great Buddy Holly. Madonna recently covered it, not too bad.
4. "I can see why you think you belong to me, I never tried to make you think or let you see one thing for yourself..." From Pure Prarie League.

Answer: Amie

From their 1975 release, "Bustin' Out", a "good lovin' gone bad" song from these country/rock folks which charted for 13 weeks.
5. "New car, caviar, four star daydream, think I'll buy me a football team." This gimme is from Pink Floyd...

Answer: Money

Another tune from the ultimate Floyd LP, "Dark Side Of The Moon".
6. "50,000 watts of power, and its pushin' overload. The beast is ready to devour all the metal they can hold." From the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar.

Answer: Heavy Metal

From 1981's, "Standing Hampton" from Sammy Hagar. This release also included "I'll Fall In Love Again", "There's Only One Way To Rock", and a decent cover of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart".
7. "I looked in Miami, I looked in Negril, the closest I came was a month old bill. I checked the Bahamas and they said she was gone, I can't understand why she did me so wrong." This is from a Bob Seger tune.

Answer: Sunspot Baby

From the 1976 release "Night Moves", which also includes "Rock and Roll Never Forgets", "The Fire Down Below", "Mainstreet", and of course the title track.
8. "Oh, oh oh oh oh oh, You don't have to go oh oh oh oh oh." From the Mighty Zep.

Answer: D'yer Mak'er

A figure of speech, according to John Paul Jones, concerning "making it" with a girl. Listen to the words.(Not pronounced like it looks.)
9. "Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet? Oh, but they're so spaced out..." this is early Sir Elton John.

Answer: Bennie and the Jets

Song of the year in 1973.
10. "Though his mind is not for rent don't put him down as arrogant, his reserve, a quiet defense, riding out the day's events- the river." This is from Rush.

Answer: Tom Sawyer

This is what Rush opened their concerts with on the "Vapor Trails" tour last year. Smokin' from start to finish (the concert and the song!) FYI, Rush will release a double live DVD this fall featuring the last show of the VT tour.
