Samuel Goldwyn (1879-1974) was a Polish American film producer and an executive of several motion picture studios in Hollywood. He legally changed his name to Samuel Goldwyn (formerly known as Samuel Goldfish) when he partnered with Edgar and Archibald Selwyn to name their new enterprise Goldwyn Pictures.

The company was active from 1916-1924 and then it merged with two studios to form the major studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The studio has become famous also through its iconic Leo the Lion trademark.
