The Northwest 45 team from Spring, Texas was the first from that state to win a JLWS title.
The Texas team broke a 3-year skid for the U.S. where international teams had won the title.
2. 1992

This was the first time a team from Arizona played in the JLWS, and they won it all.
America won back-to-back titles for the first time since 1986-87.
3. 1993
Answer: Roberto Rivera Miranda-Cayey, Puerto Rico
This was the third different team from Puerto Rico to win the JLWS, and the fourth title overall for the country.
The Goodyear Blimp flew over the championship game as the Puerto Ricans defeated a team from Mexico. It was the first time a team from the U.S. wasn't involved in the finals.

Answer: Thousand Oaks-Thousand Oaks, California
Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson attended the championship game to watch a team from his hometown of Thousand Oaks, California win the crown.
356 people joined the JLWS Alumni Club when it was founded in 1994.
5. 1995
Answer: South Lake Charles-Lake Charles, Louisiana
A pavilion was built to honor the Alumni Club that was founded the previous year. The pavilion was erected outside of the JLWS field, which is located inside Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan.
It was the first time a team from Louisiana played in the championship game.
6. 1996
Answer: Northwest 45-Spring, Texas
The team from Spring, Texas became the first repeat champions from the United States. They had previously won in 1991.
7. 1997
Answer: Salem Youth-Salem, New Hampshire
Future 13-year Major League Baseball star Delino DeShields was on the championship team from Salem in this season.
They were the first team from New Hampshire to ever compete in the JLWS.
8. 1998
Answer: South Mission Viejo-Mission Viejo, California
A double header was played on the final day for the first time in history. Ashton White, the son of Heisman Trophy winner Charles White, played for the eventual champions. The California kids beat the team from Waco, Texas in both games of the double header.
9. 1999
Answer: Hermanos Cruz-Arroyo, Puerto Rico
Hermanos Cruz Little League of Arroyo, Puerto Rico, defeated a team from Amistad y Deporte Little League in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, by a score of 1-0. It was only the second time that neither finalist was a team from the United States.

Canada made it to the finals for the first time, but couldn't top the Hawaiians.
The same team from Hawaii would repeat in 2001, becoming the first team to win the championship in back-to-back seasons.
