Running is a non-contact sport. Personally I think it should be some contact because you can get pushed over etc.
2. What type of shoes are worn for running track or cross-country?

Answer: Racers-flats

Racers come in all shapes, sizes and colors. There are diferent 'racers' for different track events. For instance they are shaped differently depending on what event you do.
3. How many laps around a 400m track is a 3000m race?

Answer: seven and a half

The 3000m is a ladies track event.
4. What does it mean in running if you got 'spiked'?

Answer: Another person cut you with his spikes

When you get spiked it hurts. It usally happens in a very important race when the competition level is turned way up.
5. What are the 5 S's (the five esses) of running?

Answer: Stamina, Speed, Strength, Skill, Spirit

The best 's' of all is Spirit.
6. Carbohydrates are not healthy for you the night before a race?

Answer: False

They actually give you energy.
7. What do most coaches suggest you should eat in the morning before a race?

Answer: Bagels, Toast, and Juice

You have to have a light breakfast before you run to power the machine up but too much fat like eggs and bacon aren't good before you race.
8. For someone who is just starting out, and who hasn't run before; is it good to do a really long run so you can 'see how it feels'?

Answer: No

You should gradaually work up your mileage. Doing a really long run your first couple of times isn't very healthy. You have to condition yourself first.
9. What does RICE mean as in running terms (it's for injuries)?

Answer: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation

RICE is for when you have an injury. You should follow these steps.

Answer: Swimming

When you swim you have to condition, train using mileage, and swimming is an individual event.
