Answer: Yogi Berra

Lawrence Peter 'Yogi' Berra began his Yankee career in 1946. His big seasons were in the 1950s, when he won the AL MVP three times, and missed out on another four. Berra won 10 of his 14 World Series along with hitting 12 series home runs. He hit 358 in his career. He retired in 1963, then came back for one season as a Met in 1965.

Answer: Lou Gehrig

Born Ludwig Heinrich Gehrig, his name was later changed to Henry Louis Gehrig. Lou played from 1923-1939, with his career cut short for a disease later named after him. He went to seven World Series and won six. His four home runs (matching his jersey number) came in the 1928 series with the four games to none win over the Cardinals. Gehrig died in 1941.

Anthony Michael Lazzeri was a Yankee from 1926-1937, and was part of the Murderers Row team of 1927. He tied for the third spot in the MVP voting in 1928 with Joe Judge, while watching Mickey Cochrane win it and Heinie Manush as runner-up. He was triple-digits in hits in every season in the pinstripes. Tony retired in 1939 as a New York Giant.

Answer: Derek Jeter

Derek was the Yankees first round sixth overall pick in the 1992 draft. He won the rookie award for his 183 hits and .314 average. His All-Star and World Series MVPs came in 2000.

Answer: Alex Rodriguez

A-Rod began his career with the Mariners from 1994-2000 at shortstop. From there it was on to the Texas Rangers for five seasons. Rodriguez put on the pinstripes in 2004, playing two games at shortstop. The Yankees moved to put Derek Jeter at third base, but it just didn't click for everyone, so A-Rod learned to play third base. Alex's MVPs came in 2003, 2005, and 2007. His 600th career home run came in the 2010 season.

Meusel's two big shadows were Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. After dusting his rookie shoes off in 1920 with 11 home runs and batting .328, Bob went to three consecutive World Series from 1921-1923. He played 11 seasons, 10 with the Yankees and retired in 1930.

Ruth's first team was the Boston Red Sox in 1914, but as a pitcher. Red Sox owner Howard Frazee needed some cash for a theatrical production, and sold Ruth to the Yankees. History was about to be taken over. The Yankees saw the Babe's bat more than his pitching arm.

The World Series controversy came in the 1932 series against the Cubs and pitcher Charlie Root. Words were exchanged between Ruth and the Cubs dugout, then with Root. Ruth made a gesture to Root and hit the next pitch for a home run.

Answer: Allie Reynolds

Allie was a Cleveland Indian for five seasons before donning the pinstripes in 1947. He was just in time to help the Yankees to six World Series between 1947 and 1953, with a personal win/loss record of 7-2. In 1951, Reynolds was third in the voting for the MVP Award behind Yogi Berra and Ned Garver, then runner-up in 1952 behind Bobby Shantz. Allie retired in 1954.
