Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Count Dooku and the assassin Asajj Ventress meet in the "Star Wars" universe for the first time in this series. Dooku is holding a gladiatorial competition. Ventress enters the combat arena and wipes the floor with the other combatants. Pleased with herself, what does Ventress claim that she is, much to Dooku's amusement?

Answer: Sith

Asajj Ventress claims that she is Sith, but Dooku chuckles at her assertion. "A bold claim! But you are not Sith." He floats to the arena floor from the observation box. "You wear the trappings of the Sith, you fight like the Sith; but this can be imitated, however. You lack a vital quality found in all Sith: Sith have no fear.

But I sense much fear in you." To Dooku and other Dark Lords, a Sith is supposed to use his fear to unleash his power, instead of giving in to their fear. For example, in "Revenge of the Sith," Dooku chides Anakin Skywalker for being fearful, and in "The Phantom Menace," Yoda tells young Anakin that he senses much fear in him.
2. Count Dooku is initially dismissive of Asajj Ventress, but when she tries to insult him, Dooku gives her a painful lesson in the dark side. What did she say to him?

Answer: "You are foolish old man!"

After Dooku laughs at Ventress calling herself a Sith, Ventress snarls, "You are a foolish old man, who knows nothing of the dark side!" "Indeed," Dooku says, and promptly knocks her flat with a blast of Sith lightning. Though indeed old, Dooku proved to be anything but weak.

After all, he defeated Anakin and Obi-Wan and held his own against Yoda in "Attack of the Clones," and throughout the later "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" series, Dooku has defeated or fought many enemies to a standstill. Although, one could argue that he was indeed foolish for believing that Darth Sidious wouldn't betray him, as happened in "Revenge of the Sith"!
3. A powerful villain makes his/her "Star Wars" debut in "Clone Wars" when he/she kills several Jedi. Who is this villain?

Answer: General Grievous

General Grievous is introduced in the 2003 series to pave the way for "Revenge of the Sith." On the planet Hypori, Grievous stalks several Jedi and kills all but three: KI-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura. Only the timely arrival of clone troopers prevents Grievous from total victory. Boba Fett made his "Star Wars" debut in the animated sequence of the campy and laughable "Star Wars Holiday Special" in the late 1970s. Cad Bane first appears in the first season of the later "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" series. And Darth Tyrannus is the Sith name of Count Dooku.
4. During the battle of Muunilinst, which lasts the entire first half of the series (seasons 1 and 2), what bounty hunter does Obi-Wan Kenobi fight and ultimately defeat?

Answer: Durge

Durge is a Gen-Dia who has lived for at least 2,000 years before his encounter with Obi-Wan. He has the ability to reform his body, including severed parts. On Muunilinst, home of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Durge leads specialized battle droids against the Republic artillery, only to be stopped in gladiator style by Obi-Wan and clone troopers. Jedi and bounty hunter fight, and at first it seems Obi-Wan killed him, but Durge "regroups" himself and charges into the Separatist command center, which Republic forces just captured. Durge and Obi-Wan fight again, and this time, he literally absorbs the Jedi, who promptly uses the force to explode Durge from the inside. If you watch just the "Clone Wars" series, it seems that Durge is dead for good.

However, he appears in "Star Wars" comics published after the series (which take place after the battle on Muuinlinst), where he somehow survived his fight with Kenobi and continued to fight clones and Jedi until Anakin Skywalker killed him for good by sending him into a star.
5. This powerful Jedi master almost single-handedly annihilates an entire droid army on Dantooine, including destroying a huge "seismic tank." Who is this Jedi? (Give the first, last or full name)

Answer: Mace Windu

In an incredible display of mastery of the force, Mace Windu destroys a huge army of battle droids on Dantooine. The battle seems pretty well matched until the droids bring in a huge seismic tank, a beast of a machine that literally pounds the ground, flattening anything or anyone below it and creating a huge shockwave.

The tank knocks out much of Windu's army, but he fights on. When he loses his light saber, he uses the force to tear apart battle droids and pound them to pieces, and uses those pieces as missiles to destroy other droids.

After recovering his light saber, he cuts his way into the huge craft and destroys it from the inside.
6. Anakin fights Count Dooku in the 2003-2004 series.

Answer: False

Dooku uses his light saber only twice in the 2003-2004 series, when he tests Ventress before sending her on a mission to kill Anakin, and when he trains General Grievous in season 3. And Anakin's only light saber duel in the series is with Ventress. (Anakin and Dooku clash in "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith," as well as numerous times in the later animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars.")
7. Who are the Jedi master and padawan that Yoda rescues on Ilum, the planet where Jedi build their light sabers? (Note: Masters are named first in the choices below.)

Answer: Luminara Undula and Barriss Offee

Luminara Undula is helping her apprentice, Barriss Offee, complete her light saber in the Jedi temple on Ilum when droids attack. The droids' bombs destroy the temple ceiling, but Luminara uses the force to protect her and Barriss from the debris. The two are also seen together in the background in Chancellor Palpetine's office just after the assassination attempt on Padme in "Attack of the Clones."

Quinlin Voss and Aayla Secura appear together in comics, not the 2003-2004 series. (She appears by herself in the series, as well as in "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith," whereas Vos first appears outside of the comics in the third season of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars.") Anakin doesn't meet his padawan, Ashoka, until the battle of Christophis in the 2008 movie "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", and Kit Fisto's former apprentice Nahdar Vebb appears with Fisto only once, during a raid on Grievous's lair in the first season of the later "Clone Wars" series.
8. Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress first duel above Muunilinst with starfighters and then battle with light sabers on Yavin IV. How does Anakin ultimately defeat Ventress?

Answer: He unleashes his anger and drives her off a cliff.

Already upset because Ventress had mercilessly killed a squad of troopers and destroyed his customized fighter and R4 droid, Anakin unleashes his full anger on the darksider. In a fury of light saber blows, Anakin drives Ventress back to a precipice and then over the cliff.

She disappears into the mist below. Anakin lets out a scream that echoes around the forest. (Although not seen in the series, Ventress doesn't die, as she regularly appears as a major villain in "Star Wars" comics and the later "Clone Wars" movie and TV series.)
9. This green-skinned Jedi general leads an underwater counter-attack on Calamari. Who is this general?

Answer: Kit Fisto

Kit Fisto leads a force of clone troopers against the Separatist-allied Quarren, who share the planet with the Mon Calamari (Admiral Akbar from "Return of the Jedi" is of this species). The Jedi destroys a huge, crab-like cannon that is firing up at the Republic assault ships floating on the surface of the ocean. (Yoda also has green skin, but Ki-Adi-Mundi's is sort of tannish-yellow and Secura's is greenish-blue.)
10. Who accompanies Yoda on his rescue mission to Ilum?

Answer: Padme Amidala

Yoda is traveling with Senator Amidala, who agrees to divert their course to Ilum. The rescue mission constitutes Padme's only action sequence in the 2003-2004 series. Also with Padme and Yoda are Threepio, Artoo and Captain Tycho. (Captain Panaka led the queen's royal guard in "The Phantom Menace".)
