Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Chosen" was set in which country, in the language of which it was filmed?

Answer: Denmark

Middelbo is a fictitious small town in Denmark, formerly an important port and shipbuilding center. Producers Jannik Tai Mosholt and Christian Potalivo set their YA sci-fi story in this community, using Danish actors and recording the programme in the Danish language.

The version shown on Netflix is dubbed in English (but not very well). Denmark is a relatively small country (5.8 million people in 2020) and this is reflected in the rustic, mostly-tranquil, seaside, rain-drenched countryside depicted.
2. Elvis Hussein, one of Emma's friends, is shown living in a mansion. How did Elvis' parents become wealthy?

Answer: the meteorite landed on their property

The meteorite which supposedly fell to earth seventeen years ago landed right next to Hussein's supermarket, leaving a huge crater which became a major tourist attraction. The Husseins capitalized on this and grew wealthy because of it. Elvis is played by Mohamed Djeziri. If the meteorite strike were proved to be a fraud, this disclosure would negatively impact his family's bank balance.
3. How did Emma lose her job at the Middelbo meteorite museum?

Answer: she allowed the fake meteorite to break

In a glass case, what was touted to be the original meteorite was displayed for tourists. Emma allowed a smart-mouthed kid to touch it, causing it to fall off its pedestal and shatter. Almost all meteorites are made of rock; a few are made of iron and nickel.

This "meteorite" was made of glass. Meteorites do not remain intact when they collide with the Earth. This one was clearly phony. For allowing all of this to happen (and for questioning the authenticity of the exhibited meteorite), Emma, played by Malaika Berenth Mosendane, lost her job as a tour guide at the crater site, in Episode 1.
4. Throughout this series, how does Emma primarily get around?

Answer: on her bicycle

The roads and streets in and around Middelbo are not much improved. Emma has a bicycle which she rides continuously around the town and the surrounding countryside. It appears that very few of the high- school age teenagers have driver's licenses much less access to cars.
5. What is Frederik's greatest contribution to the group of teenagers investigating the cover-up/mystery?

Answer: he has a truck and a driver's license

Andreas Dittmer plays Frederik whose role in the group arises from his possession of a driver's license and access to a truck. He provides transportation, especially to Mads. He and Emma develop a relationship behind Marie's back.
6. What is Mads' physical disability?

Answer: he uses a wheelchair

Although the cause of his paraplegia is never explained, Mads is confined to a wheelchair. This does not prevent him from getting in and out of various motor vehicles. He is adept at the use of his chair. Mads drives himself to be perfect and is frustrated when he falls short of his own mark.

This is perhaps an attempt to make up for what he perceives to be the imperfection of his disability.
7. Over the course of events in "Chosen", Emma has intimate romantic relations with people of which gender(s)?

Answer: both males and females

Emma has always felt like an outsider. In a sense, her pursuit of the secret of what's going on in Middelbo parallels her pursuit of what's going on with herself. She is uncertain of who she wants to become. Emma is not so much bisexual as ambisexual, somewhere in the midst of figuring out her sexual orientation. Thus she has relationships with both males (e.g. Frederik) and females (e.g. Marie).
8. How is Marie described to Emma by the other teenagers in the group?

Answer: 99% vampire

Marie (played by Andrea Heick Gadeberg) is a quiet loner. She is shy but develops feelings for Emma. They stake out Emma's doctor, Susan, together. Marie admits that she likes to watch people. She says it convinced her that others are as screwed up as she is.
9. Hussein introduces Thomas Damborg, the CEO of Astraeus, at the village fair. What does Astraeus say it produces?

Answer: ships

Middelbo was, at one time, a center of the ship-building industry. The entry of Thomas Damborg (played by Ken Vedsegaard) and Astraeus into the depressed community promises new jobs and perhaps a return to prosperity. The "ships" may not, however, be of the sort that sail the seas.
10. If the thing that crashed in Middelbo seventeen years ago wasn't a meteorite, what most likely was it?

Answer: a spaceship, an extraterrestrial vehicle

While the whole community seems invested in perpetuating the story that it was a meteorite which crashed into the Earth seventeen years ago, there are other possible explanations for the crater. People are obviously keeping secrets. One of them might be that it was a spaceship that exploded and crashed. Radio signals sent to Earth from outer space and responded to from Middelbo support this hypothesis.

The alien survivors and perhaps some other aliens opposed to them may be in present conflict.
