Answer: Sawyer

Sydney, 2004.

Our final chapter opens at dusk. An alleyway door slams open. We see just the dank floor outside the doorway. Feet clad in fine leather loafers stumble into the alley. Their steps echo towards the street where an orange light is cast from the sunset glowing at the end of the alley. These steps stop in their tracks, however, as a calculating voice is spoken from behind the man.

Calmly from behind the man, in the shadows, a dark figure asks: "Christian?"

We pan upwards to recognize the drunken man as he turns.

Emerging from the shadows, the figure reiterates: "Christian Shepherd?"

Christian looks quizzically at the figure, responding: "Yeah?"

The sudden whisk of a dart gun erupts. A projectile strikes Christian in the chest. He grabs at the dart as he stumbles and falls to the dusty floor of the alleyway. Losing consciousness, Christian pries at the dart, trying to make sense of the weapon.

"What the ...?" He stammers, but is starting to fade.

The figure emerges from the shadows. It's Ben Linus, holstering the weapon in a shoulder harness with a gloved hand.

With his final conscious breath, Christian murmurs: "You shot me. Why'd you shoo' m'...?"

Ben crouches beside him and removes a syringe from his coat pocket. "I didn't shoot you," Ben says coldly. "I'm afraid you are having a fatal heart attack."
2. "Island, present day. Upon being anointed protector of the island, Jack marches through camp with the conviction of a man on a mission. Sawyer, Hurley, and Kate are gathered around the ashy pit of the burnt out fire...." When the four gathered around the fire to meet with Jacob, which one had been crossed off the list of candidates?

Answer: Kate

Island, present day.

Upon being anointed protector of the island, Jack marches through camp with the conviction of a man on a mission. Sawyer, Hurley, and Kate are gathered around the ashy pit of the burnt out fire. As they exchange pleasantries, Jack takes his backpack, empties the contents, and proceeds to scoop into it the ashes from the fire pit.

"So, What's the next move, Doc?" Sawyer asks earnestly.

Jack smirks as if it's an inside joke, but a befuddled Sawyer just stares towards him for an answer.

Jack looks at him coolly: "We finish it."

Still perplexed, Sawyer spits: "Finish what?"

Jack looks Sawyer in the eye and retorts: "The war. C'mon. We've got to get moving."
3. "Los Angeles, present day. John Locke lay upright in his hospital bed, looking at Jack in amazement...." What is the name of the hospital where Jack works?

Answer: St. Sebastian's Hospital

Los Angeles, present day.

John Locke lay upright in his hospital bed, looking at Jack in amazement. Jack has just finished explaining the innovative procedure Locke will undergo, which theoretically will cure his paraplegia. The necessity to recruit a suitable bone marrow donor has led to an astounding revelation. At least, this is Locke's take on the news. Jack sees it as a mere remarkable coincidence. Either way, despite the incredible odds, the fact is ... Jack is a near-perfect donor match for Locke's bone tissue.
4. "Island, 2004. "It's done," Ben says as he enters the seemingly empty cabin. He is never quite certain if the entity that lives within the mysterious safe house is listening...." What did the entity say to John Locke upon their encounter in "Jacob's" cabin?

Answer: Help me.

Island, 2004.

"It's done," Ben says as he enters the seemingly empty cabin. He is never quite certain if the entity that lives within the mysterious safe house is listening. As force of habit, he repeats himself.

"It's done. Do you hear me?" The floorboards squeak as Ben approaches the vacant table at the back of the dim room.

Treading carefully, he listens for the faintest sound ... an audible response, or at least a portion of one. Nothing. Routinely, Ben pulls a notebook from his back pocket and pens a terse note. He rips the page from the notebook and places it in plain sight on the table.

"Well then, until we meet again," Ben chides carefully, leaving behind a note in clearly legible print that reads: 'It's done. Christian Shepherd is dead.'
5. "Los Angeles, present day. Ben is waiting eagerly, already at a table in an uptown restaurant. He stands politely and smiles as Danielle arrives...." What was the name of Alex's boyfriend, who Ben ordered to be brainwashed?

Answer: Karl

Los Angeles, present day.

Ben is waiting eagerly, already at a table in an uptown restaurant. He stands politely and smiles as Danielle arrives. It's been some weeks since Ben was a guest for dinner in her home, and he'd wished to make it up to her sooner. With the recent events of John Locke having been run down in the school parking lot, and Ben soon thereafter being beaten by the man who did so, this dinner rendezvous had required rescheduling several times.

The two chat amiably, touching briefly on Ben's attack, though he does not mention the strange déjà vu flashbacks he'd experienced while being pummeled mercilessly. As they change the subject to more uplifting topics, they open their menus, and we see the name of the restaurant printed on the covers ... LeFleur Bistro.
6. "Island, present day. Miles follows a trail of voices. He had always heard them, but had never been on his lonesome long enough to truly listen. The many thoughts from the afterlife are strung together as if sewn into a tapestry of the island's history...." Which of the following statements *is true* of the Kahana freighter that brought Miles to the island?

Answer: It was not Penny's boat

Island, present day.

Miles follows a trail of voices. He had always heard them, but had never been on his lonesome long enough to truly listen. The many thoughts from the afterlife are strung together as if sewn into a tapestry of the island's history. Still, the ones that resonate the most, after having fled from the black smoke and into the jungle, are those most familiar to him.

The one that echoes in the forefront of his frantic mind is one of a hundred voices, but it is the one to whom he feels most akin ... that of Charlotte's dying breath: "This place is death!"

Horrifying as the thought is, the sound of Charlotte's voice - like all the others - has a direction. It whips his head about in a trans-like state, and unbeknownst to Miles, leads him to a destination. Like many places on the island that have been ordained by Jacob, one has to be led to this place. And, with a final subliminal point in the right direction from Charlotte, he arrives at the clearing.

Erected before him is the ashen skeleton of a house. But, as Miles carefully approaches the burnt down structure, he is halted in his tracks by the audible cocking of a rifle at his back.

Instinctively raising his hands, he grimaces upon recognizing the distressed Australian accent which orders him: "Don't move."

Miles can't resist the urge to slowly turn, and is almost relieved to recognize the woman, though he is still uneasy enough to barely hear himself say in astonishment: "Claire?!"
7. "Los Angeles, present day. As a pregnant Claire is wheeled into the hospital's maternity ward one floor below, an industrious man walks through the recovery wing, en route to John Locke's room. Sitting upright in bed, John is beaming at having just wiggled his toes...." After crashing on the island, Who uses John's wheelchair to cart luggage across the beach?

Answer: Charlie and Claire

Los Angeles, present day.

As a pregnant Claire is wheeled into the hospital's maternity ward one floor below, an industrious man walks through the recovery wing, en route to John Locke's room. Sitting upright in bed, John is beaming at having just wiggled his toes. It would be some weeks before he'd be battle tested. But, Dr. Jack Shephard had promised John he'd be back on his feet in no time.

Alone now in the afterglow, John is greeted by a stranger in the doorway: "Hello, John. May I come in?"

John looks up in surprise: "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

Charles Widmore smirks with understanding, taking a seat beside John's bed: "I'm Charles Widmore. And no, you don't know me. Still, I have been awaiting this day for a long time."

Dispensing with any further pleasantries, Widmore simply offers a brief on who he is, the power he wields, and the resources at his disposal. All this merely in hopes of acclimating John to the mysterious encounter. John at last asks: "What does this have to do with me?"

Strategically, Widmore drives at the point. "John, I'm sure like any man, you believe in who you are and where it is you come from. But John, you are not just any man. Who you are, and more importantly what you are, is more vital than you can possibly imagine."

Although intent, John becomes growingly uncomfortable. Widmore presses on. "Now initially, you're not going to believe anything I'm about to tell you. However, I need for you to keep an open mind. I need your sincere consideration, John. Then, and only then, I need for you to decide if you believe what I'm about to tell you."

John offers: "I'm sorry Mr. Widmore, but I don't...."

Widmore cuts him off. "Please, John. I know you don't understand. But for the sake of everyone you care about, especially your fiancée Helen, I need you to listen to me. Will you do that for me, John?"

John has been on the verge of tears since his follow-up with Jack proved the surgery to be a success. And, with his eyes still welling from the intensity of the day, he stares intently into the glimmer of Charles Widmore's eyes, grabs curiously at his chin, and nods.

"John, I know you blame yourself for the airplane crash that caused your disability. But destiny, John, can be a mysterious beast."

Trying to grasp how Widmore is privy to his life story, John flusters: "That crash didn't just hurt me. My father was...."

Widmore interrupts vehemently: "Anthony Cooper is not your father, John. He is just a high-stakes hustler that used you to save his own skin."

John is stunned: "Now, that's not true."

Widmore refutes: "Yes it is. I know this comes as a shock to you, but Anthony Cooper is, well he was, a resourceful man. And, he sought you out because you were a 12-point match for a kidney transplant he so desperately needed. However, he is not your father. John, I too am a resourceful man. Far more so than a conman like Cooper. It's because of this that I know that the identity of your father is insignificant. But the identity of your mother, John, is of crucial importance."

Overwhelmed, John is speechless.

"I know this will sound as fabricated as the most far-fetched science fiction," Widmore continues, "but it's the truth. Your mother is here, now, in this hospital. And what's more, John ... she has yet to even give birth to you."

John dizzies, feeling sick with helplessness, so much so that not until he raises his hands to his face in abandon does he realize he is crying a river of tears.
8. "Island, present day. "We'll find what we're looking for just past the reeds, but the three of you have to wait here," Jack says, winded from a brisk march through the forest...." On the octagonal map of Dharma stations arranged around the heart of the island, what central symbol indicates where "the light" is located?

Answer: A question mark

Island, present day.

"We'll find what we're looking for just past the reeds, but the three of you have to wait here," Jack says, winded from a brisk march through the forest.

"You still haven't clued us in, Doc," Sawyer huffs just a step behind. "What exactly are we looking for?"

Hurley and Kate are just catching up, having trailed Jack and Sawyer after falling behind several hundred feet.

"Jacob didn't say, exactly," Jack answers. "He only told me I'll find it just beyond the clearing."

Sawyer pains: "Great. A mystery. What a surprise."

Although Hurley is exhausted and cramping, he voices concern for Kate: "Dudes. Break time. If you haven't noticed, Kate isn't exactly a hundred percent here."

Pale and hurting from the gunshot wound in her shoulder, Kate responds: "I'll be fine."

Jack explains: "It's OK. You three wait here. I have to do this alone."

Examining the surrounding field, Hurley notices a peculiar object hanging from one of the reeds. "Um, guys, Did somebody lose a shoe?"
9. "Los Angeles, present day. The bright yellow Humvee pulls into a reserved space in front of LeFleur Bistro. The key is turned to kill the engine, while Sayid looks on confusedly from the passenger seat. "What, may I ask, are we doing here?" Sayid drones. "Dinner," Hurley answers...." When Hurley was given a rebuilt classic Camaro as a birthday gift from his father, what was the reading on the odometer?

Answer: 481516

Los Angeles, present day.

The bright yellow Humvee pulls into a reserved space in front of LeFleur Bistro. The key is turned to kill the engine, while Sayid looks on confusedly from the passenger seat.

"What, may I ask, are we doing here?" Sayid drones.

"Dinner," Hurley answers.

"Dinner?" Sayid asks in disbelief.

"Yeah, dude. Everybody's got to eat," Hurley opens his door. "C'mon. You must be hungry after spending all day in lockup."

Sayid reluctantly agrees, and the two make their way into the establishment.

"Good evening Mr. Reyes," greets the young maitre d'. "Your table is ready. Right this way."

Hurley smiles casually: "Thanks, Karl."

As the two sit down, Hurley curtly orders for both of them, then briefs Sayid on the details of how he owns the restaurant, having recently fixed up the place after it long had been a coffee house called Jim's Café.

As the two have been situated for some minutes, a man in the shadows of the table right next to them has been captivated by their presence. Having since finished his meal, the man eloquently hides an awestruck reaction from his dining partner, and says goodnight under the pretense that he wants to stay behind for a cup of coffee as he has, as he puts it: "a long night of grading finals in front of him."

Overcome with raw animosity towards the familiar face of Sayid, who has no way of recognizing the man he'd once tortured in another life and unknowingly shot as a child in this one, Ben Linus bides his time until the perfect moment arises. And, when the steak knife is placed upon the table for Sayid's shank, he capitalizes. With a path cleared to the front door so he can quickly flee, Ben lurches from the shadows and grabs at the knife, violently plunging it into the base of Sayid's neck just above the collarbone. Ben seemingly vanishes as Hurley rushes to Sayid's side, who has collapsed to the floor, looking up with disbelief into the blurring light of a crystal chandelier.
10. "Island, present day. "It's you," Jack says upon approaching his familiar friend...." Who was Daniel Faraday's constant?

Answer: Desmond Hume

Island, present day.

"It's you," Jack says upon approaching his familiar friend.

"Ay, brother," beams the bright, Scottish verve of Desmond Hume. He greets Jack with a curious smile: "Where are the others?"

Jack gives him a curt head nod: "They're here."

From behind Desmond glows the heart of the island from the mysterious cave that both are encountering for the first time. Looking into the light, Jack heeds the dire responsibility Jacob had bestowed upon him. He crouches at the stream, brushing his hand through the cool water. The radiance washes across his fingers.

"This is it?" Jack says.

"Ay."

Jack stands up and approaches Desmond with an upright posture. Looking him squarely in the eyes, Jack asks: "OK. So, What lies in the shadow of the statue?"

Desmond smiles. "She who will save us all, brother."
