Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does JR meet his future wife Callie Harper?

Answer: Haleyville

JR, Bobby, John Ross and Christopher go on their first hunting trip together in Haleyville. Haleyville's exact location is never revealed, but was made clear that it is in a state that borders Texas. I suspect that it is Arkansas, but I've no proof of that.

They say they are hunting in the Arkansas/Louisiana area and there is a real Haleyville, Alabama, but it remained a mystery! JR lags behind when Bobby and the boys return to Dallas and gets himself into a load of trouble when he beds the innocent Callie Harper.
2. Which two women did Casey Denault use to finance his independent oil company in season 12?

Answer: April and Lucy

When April put all the pieces together, she warned Lucy and the two women sent Casey packing! Andrew Stevens played the con-artist Casey Denault. He started his career as a model and went on to have an excellent career in show business. He starred in many low budget movies (over 50), was both writer and producer in the "Night Eyes" series of films, and was executive producer on such movies as "Angel Eyes", "Alex and Emma" and "The Whole Ten Yards".
3. When Cliff sees Pam in season 12 he lies to Bobby about it.

Answer: True

Cliff tells Bobby it was not Pam after all. In season 13, Margaret Michaels returns to the show to play realtor Jeanne O'Brien. Cliff sees her and says something to the effect of "You look just like my sister Pam. She was burned and had plastic surgery and you look just like her."
4. Who hired Carter McKay to buy Ray's house near Southfork and torment the Ewings?

Answer: Jeremy Wendell

It had seemed as though Carter would be just a rich neighbor when he purchased Ray's house and property. But, we later find out that Jeremy had set the entire thing up in order to force the Ewings to sell a particular patch of Ewing land. In exchange for tormenting the Ewings, Jeremy would arrange for Carter's drug addict son to be released from a South American prison.
5. Which of these women did not cause grief for April while she was in-love with Bobby?

Answer: Pamela Ewing

Pam was long gone before April and Bobby's romance began. Tammy Miller was Bobby's first liaison after Pam disappeared. He also knew her from college. She was a brief fling who resurfaced after Bobby began his affair with Tracy, the daughter of Carter McKay. April and Tammy both expressed some jealously over Tracy Lawton at the season 12 Oil Baron's Ball. Jeanne was the Pam look-alike that Bobby had an affair with after he'd already asked April to marry him in season 13. Kay was Bobby's Washington DC romance in-between Tammy and April, before Tracy, and she also resurfaced while he dated April the second time.

She made April extremely uncomfortable, but Bobby did not do more than kiss Kay while he was involved with April.
6. How old is Callie when she and JR are married?

Answer: 24

Callie reveals her age to Lucy in the season 12 episode "The Two Mrs. Ewings". John Ross resents Callie's presence at first, but becomes so attached to her he demands JR not allow Callie to leave Southfork in season 13. Christopher takes to Callie very quickly, as he is starved for a mother figure in his life.
7. What is the name of JR's oldest son and who is his mother?

Answer: James and Vanessa Beaumont

Gayle Hunnicutt played JR's ex-love Vanessa. Sasha Mitchell joined the cast in season 13 as James Richard (JR) Beaumont. James did not approve of JR's dirty business dealings and infidelities. He became involved with April's little sister Michelle Stevens until she left the show briefly to join a Japanese corporation. Sasha reunited with Patrick Duffy in 1991 on the series "Step by Step". He and former wife Jeannette Denise had four children together between 1988-1997.
8. What is the name of the Texas town Miss Ellie purchases in season 13?

Answer: Pride

Pride is a real town in Texas. It is located in Dawson County and received its first post office in 1904. Miss Ellie and Clayton traveled to Pride after a mysterious birthday card arrived at Southfork for Jock. She had to purchase the town of Pride in order to gain access to an old boarding house located there.
9. Ian McShane played ___ ____, the man Sue Ellen hired to write a movie based on her life with JR.

Answer: Don Lockwood

Don was given access to her diaries, all her memories, and Lucy's point of view. He wrote a wonderful script and together they created an extremely volatile true story based on the immoral life of JR Ewing. After it was completed, Sue Ellen allowed JR to view it.

Then she explained it would not be released to the public unless he gave her a good reason in the future. She and Don left for England together at the end of season 12. Ian McShane was in the movies "Sexy Beast" (2000) and "Agent Cody Banks" (2003).

He won a Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding Achievement in a drama series in 2004 for his work as Al Swearengen in the HBO original series "Deadwood". "Deadwood" was also nominated for 11 Golden Globe awards in 2004, one of which was won by Ian McShane.
10. In season 12's "Three Hundred" episode Bobby and JR are trapped in the elevator at Ewing Oil. They drank a whole crate of wine that was a gift sent to Bobby from whom?

Answer: Ray Krebbs

The Ewing boys spent the entire night in that elevator. Bobby was mad at JR and made him use I Owe Yous to have any access to the wine. I believe the crate held six whole bottles!
11. What is the name of Afton and Cliff's daughter as revealed at the end of season 12?

Answer: Pamela Rebecca Cooper

Though Afton is able to trick Cliff into believing her former husband (played by Andrew Prine) is actually little Pam's father, we find out she is really Cliff's child. Afton named her after Pam and after Cliff's mother Rebecca.
12. It is revealed that Callie Harper Ewing is a talented painter in season 13. Who is the man that helps her hone her skills and sell her work?

Answer: Alex Barton

With Lucy's support Callie is united with Alex. JR eventually runs Alex out of town when Callie lies to him and says she slept with Alex. Callie was just trying to hurt JR when she discovered he's already been unfaithful. After Alex leaves Dallas, Lucy purchases the art gallery that housed Callie's artwork. Michael Wilding Jr. played Alex in 8 episodes. He also married the daughter of actor Jack Palance.
13. Who was responsible for the kidnapping and murder of April Ewing?

Answer: Hillary Taylor

Susan Lucci joined the cast for 5 episodes in the very last season. Hillary (posing as Sheila Foley) pretended to bump into Bobby and April on their honeymoon in Paris. She spent quite a bit of time with the couple for the first few days of their Paris trip.

Then, she had April kidnapped and made Bobby realize everyone thought she was April Stevens instead of the real April. Bobby was to play along with Hillary/Sheila so she could get into an OPEC party as Bobby's wife. She claimed to want to verbally embarrass a member, but she really wanted to murder a man from Saudi Arabia.

It was in defense of this man that April was accidentally shot and killed. Bobby buried her in Paris and returned to Dallas to begin seeking revenge on Hillary/Sheila. Bobby finds out soon after that the real Sheila Foley is locked up in a hospital for a nervous breakdown she suffered after her husband's suicide.

It takes a bit more time, and help from Liz Adams, for Bobby to discover her real name is Hillary Taylor. Hillary had a long time affair with her partner (and Sheila Foley's husband), and was bound for revenge after his suicide.
14. Barbara Eden joins the cast in the final season to play LeeAnn Nelson De La Vega. LeeAnn purchases Ewing Oil from Bobby, ruins JR's relationship with Vanessa Beaumont, and sells the company to one of JR's enemies. Which enemy helped LeeAnn and stole the company out from under JR?

Answer: Michelle Stevens

I suspect her maiden name of Nelson was a play on her and Larry Hagman's "I Dream of Jeannie" characters, Tony and Jeannie Nelson. LeeAnn and JR's story dates back to before "Dallas" began, just like his history with James' mother Vanessa Beaumont. LeeAnn was a naive college girl when she met JR, he got her pregnant, dumped her, and she had an abortion that left her barren.

She'd gone on with her life pretty well and married a South American business man. It wasn't until LeeAnn ran into Michelle Stevens that she heard the name JR Ewing again and the women hatched out a plot to ruin him.

When LeeAnn was done with her revenge, she handed the company over to Michelle Stevens, who paid LeAnn a fraction of what it was worth. When she sold half of the company to Cliff and the other half to JR, she doubled her money.

They both paid her the entire amount she spent for their half of Ewing.
15. Cliff falls in love with Liz Adams during this final season of the show. It starts off well, and she returns his feelings. What truth about Liz makes her dump Cliff for a short time?

Answer: She works for the CIA

Liz was working for the CIA to nail a small time mobster named Johnny Dancer (or Danzig). She'd moved off the case before coming to Dallas, and felt good about becoming involved with Cliff. Then, the CIA insists she continue her work, finally convincing her by revealing that Johnny had killed her brother.

She and Cliff do reconcile after Johnny is killed and she explains to Cliff she was an agent of the CIA. She later helps Bobby find the identity of Hillary Taylor, who'd claimed to be Sheila Foley in Paris.
16. Carter McKay killed a mobster named Johnny Dancer.

Answer: False

Carter McKay was convicted and briefly imprisoned, but it was Cliff that killed Johnny. He and Johnny struggled for the gun in Johnny's hotel room, and it went off. Cliff called 911 from the lobby of the hotel, but immediately left town to help Bobby find Hillary Taylor/Sheila Foley's business history. Carter was in the hotel at the time, but the lady he met was the wife of Texas' governor and she refused to admit she even knew Carter. Carter's wife Rose eventually admitted she lied about his alibi, and a tape supplied by JR gave Carter a motive to kill Johnny. Carter was sent to death row until Cliff confessed to the District Attorney.

The D.A. did not want to admit they'd tried the wrong man, so the lied to the judge and said the tape had been doctored.

The had no desire to admit their mistake and try Cliff for the murder.
17. After Callie divorces JR, James announces Callie's pregnancy. When JR catches up to Callie, whom does she say is the father of the baby?

Answer: James

Callie and James were close friends for a while, but she grew to become very angry with him. During the time they were close, they never did become lovers. She lied to JR, not only to hurt him, but to hurt James as well. James had announced her pregnancy without her consent during JR and Vanessa's engagement party at the Oil Baron's club.
18. Who claimed to have married and pro-created with James in the episode "Fathers and Sons and Fathers and Sons"?

Answer: Debra Lyn

There was always a mystery woman or baby popping out of the woodwork in those last couple seasons of "Dallas". The plot lines and writing were getting extremely dried up at this point, and the end was mercifully near!
19. Clayton returns to Southfork late in season 14's "Farewell, My Lovely" episode to close out some business. Is it true that in this visit Clayton gives JR the deed to Southfork?

Answer: No

Clayton explains to Bobby and JR that Miss Ellie refuses to return to Southfork because she is too upset over all the problems that haunt the ranch. Clayton retrieves Dusty's WestStar voting rights from Carter McKay and gives them to JR, but announces that Miss Ellie wants Bobby to have the deed to the ranch. Clayton also says at this visit that he hopes that neither he nor Miss Ellie ever sees JR again. Miss Ellie would have never felt that way, so I think he spoke out of turn.
20. When the series' finale episode aired, who was the sole owner of Ewing Oil?

Answer: Cliff Barnes

In a sweep of what some might call poetic justice, Cliff becomes sole owner of the company. But, this time he did not even work to make it happen. JR let his ego get the best of him, and sold his half of the company to Cliff. The series of events goes as follows: Bobby was the sole owner of Ewing (JR could not legally own the company) and after April died sold it to LeAnn De La Vega. LeAnn was an old girlfriend of JR's from college and wanted revenge.

After she had her revenge, she sold the entire company to Michelle Stevens, April's younger sister who hated JR, for a small amount. Michelle convinces James Beaumont to marry her and allows him to have half the company as long as they are married.

When it is revealed that not only is James married to Debra Lyn, but the couple has a son, James chooses to stay with his little family and annuls his fake marriage to Michelle.

In her despair Michelle turned to Cliff. Cliff normally can be a good friend, but Michelle had betrayed Cliff in the past and he saw an opportunity to get back at her and JR in one motion.

He tricks Michelle into signing a marriage license, which then gave him fifty percent of Ewing Oil. Michelle shoots and kills Hillary Taylor, the woman who kidnapped April in Paris, and while in prison makes a deal with JR to sell him half of Ewing Oil for his help getting out of murder charges. JR soon finds out that it is Cliff, and not Michelle, who was his partner in Ewing and wants to buy Cliff out. Cliff refuses. In the meantime Carter McKay finds his estranged wife Rose, and the two of them plot to get even with JR for using Rose to spy on Carter. They successfully set JR up to believe he will be the CEO of WestStar. When he agrees to take the job, he has to sell his half of Ewing to Cliff to avoid conflict of interest. That is how Cliff became the sole owner of Ewing Oil at last, leaving JR jobless, friendless, and without any one of his 3 sons by his side.
