"Ally McBeal" aired on FOX 1997-2002 and starred Calista Flockhart as a lawyer working in a Boston law firm. It was created by David E. Kelley who also produced other legal shows such as "L.A. Law", "The Practice", and "Boston Legal".

Answer: B.J. and the Bear

"B.J. and the Bear" ran on NBC 1979-1981 and starred Greg Evigan as a trucker getting into mischief and solving problems, a chimp named Bear by his side. This was likely inspired by another primate-buddy pair, Clint Eastwood and his sidekick, Clyde, an orangutan, in the movie "Every Which Way But Loose" from 1978.

In the fall of 1994, CBS launched "Chicago Hope" at the same time NBC launched "ER", both hospital dramas set in Chicago. Although "Chicago Hope" did fair well, "ER" had George Clooney and soundly beat "CH" in the ratings. Nevertheless, "Chicago Hope" won many awards, including Best Lead Actor in a Drama for star Mandy Patinkin.

Yoga instructor Dharma and conservative attorney Greg came from different backgrounds but fell in love and married after one date. "Dharma and Greg" was created by producer Chuck Lorre, who went on to offer "Two and a Half Men", "Mike and Molly", and "The Big Bang Theory".

"Everybody Loves Raymond" ran on CBS 1996-2005. The premise was that Debra encouraged Ray to buy the house across from his parents' on Long Island, despite his protests. Since Debra took the brunt of mother-in-law Marie's manipulative ways, I'm sure Debra came to regret the move, too.

Answer: Freaks and Geeks

The show highlighted the strained relationship between father and son, as the father was the head of a major corporate law firm.

"How I Met Your Mother" is the loooonnnngggg story of Ted Mosby who dates constantly in search of The One. There's a frame story where Ted, in the future, is telling the story to his teenage kids of how he met their mother. Ted hangs around with his best friend from college, Marshall, and Marshall's wife, Lily, ex-girlfriend Robin Sherbasky, and dating phenom Barney.

"In Treatment" ran on HBO for three seasons between 2009-2011. Each episode covered one treatment session for one of Paul's clients or Paul's session with his own therapist, Gina. Paul's clients included troubled couples, a suicidal teenage gymnast, a successful actor dealing with her sister's terminal illness, and a widower, among others.

In the final season, he saw another therapist of his own, Adele, with whom he seemed to fall in love.

Answer: Judging Amy

"Judging Amy" ran on CBS 1999-2005. It covered both Amy's personal life with her daughter, mother, siblings, and boyfriends, and her work as a judge in family court making difficult decisions for children. Her mother was played by Tyne Daly who won several Emmy awards when she played a police detective Mary Beth Lacey on "Cagney and Lacey".
