Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How does Sheldon choose his seat at the movie theatre?

Answer: He looks for the 'acoustic sweet spot'.

This can be seen in the season two episode "The White Asparagus Triangulation". Leonard was seeing Dr. Stephanie Barnett and Sheldon was spending a lot of time with Leonard and Stephanie. When Leonard left Sheldon a note saying that he and Stephanie were going to the movies, Sheldon took that as an invitation to join them and tracked them down.

He told them to wait while he found seats (even though Leonard and Stephanie were already sitting). Sheldon then sat in various spots in the theatre, making "Ha!" noises and listening to the acoustics in the room.

It turned out that Leonard and Stephanie were already sitting in the 'acoustic sweet spot'.
2. What group did Leslie Winkle ask Leonard to join, in a season one episode?

Answer: A string quartet

In season one's "The Hamburger Postulate", Leslie Winkle (played by Sara Gilbert) invited Leonard to join the string quartet she played with, as Leonard was a cellist and the group needed one. Leonard was a bit reluctant at first, as a couple episodes earlier he'd asked Leslie out and was shot down, but he went ahead and joined the group.

He ended up hooking up with Leslie and wanted to pursue a relationship with her, but she wasn't interested.
3. According to Leonard in a season two episode, what was Sheldon's 'kryptonite'?

Answer: His mother

In "The Panty Pinata Polarization", Sheldon and Penny got into a feud after he banished her from his apartment for breaking his rules (such as touching his food and sitting in his spot). After Sheldon took Penny's clothes from the laundry room and draped her underwear from the telephone wire outside of his apartment, Leonard stepped in by going to Penny's and giving her a piece of paper, calling it "Sheldon's kryptonite".

She seemed reluctant to use it, but Leonard said, "It'll shorten the war by five years and save many lives!" We can deduce that the information on the piece of paper was Sheldon's mother's phone number and that Penny called her and tattled on Sheldon, because his mother then phoned him and made him take the underwear down and apologize to Penny, despite him whining that Penny started it.
4. When Leonard and Raj hired a prostitute for Howard in Las Vegas, what sort of 'experience' did they ask her to provide?

Answer: The Jewish Girlfriend Experience

A few episodes earlier, Howard had begun a friends-with-benefits relationship with Leslie Winkle. When she broke it off with him in "The Vegas Renormalization", Leonard and Raj took him to Las Vegas (at Sheldon's suggestion) to cheer him up. Howard was quite depressed and stayed in his room looking at Leslie's Facebook page when Leonard and Raj went to the hotel bar.

A prostitute tried to pick up Raj, and he and Leonard decided to buy her services for Howard. They asked her to act like she was just a regular woman who was interested in a date with Howard. Mikaela (the prostitute) asked, "So you want the girlfriend experience?" and Raj said that they would love for her to provide the 'Jewish girlfriend experience' instead.

In acting the part, to get Howard's attention, Mikaela approached the buffet table while Howard, Leonard and Raj were standing there and said aloud, "What, would it kill them to maybe put out a brisket?"
5. What song does Sheldon like to hear when he's sick?

Answer: Soft Kitty

We first hear "Soft Kitty", a song that Sheldon's mother sang to him when he was young, in the season one episode "The Pancake Batter Anomaly". Sheldon was sick and asked Penny to take care of him, since his friends had gone into hiding at the first sign of his illness.

He asked Penny to sing "Soft Kitty" and taught her the words: "Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr." Sheldon also asked Penny to sing it to him in "The Vegas Renormalization" when he had to spend the night at her apartment because he was locked out of his and couldn't get to sleep.

He justified his request by saying that homesick was a kind of sick.
6. What did Penny get Sheldon for Christmas in season two?

Answer: A napkin signed by Leonard Nimoy

In "The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis", Sheldon was at first dismayed to learn that Penny had a Christmas gift for him, because it put the burden on him to properly reciprocate. He made Howard and Raj take him to the mall where he bought several gift sets of bath items, and decided that he would choose one to give Penny after he saw what she got him.

When he opened a napkin that was personally addressed to him and signed by Leonard Nimoy, that Nimoy had wiped his mouth with no less, Sheldon was overjoyed and gave Penny all of the bath sets he'd bought. Thinking that that still wasn't enough, he also gave her a hug.
7. What musical did Penny have a role in, in the first season?

Answer: Rent

In "The Loobenfeld Decay", Penny's horribly off-key singing while practicing for her performance in "Rent" led Leonard to lie and say he was unavailable to go see her performance. Sheldon thought that Leonard's lie wasn't good enough and concocted a wildly elaborate story about his fictional, drug-addicted cousin Leo.

He went so far as to set up a fake Facebook page for Leo, and he also hired Toby Loobenfeld (played by DJ Qualls), an employee at the university, to pretend to be Leo. In the end it didn't matter, as Penny made Leonard watch the videotape of her performance anyway.
8. When Penny decided to throw a surprise birthday party for Leonard, who had to keep Leonard occupied before the party?

Answer: Howard

In the season one episode "The Peanut Reaction", Penny was shocked to learn that Leonard had never had a birthday party. Leonard explained that his mother didn't feel that the anniversary of being expelled from the birth canal was an accomplishment worthy of a celebration, so he'd never had birthday parties as a child. Penny decided to throw him one and enlisted Howard to keep Leonard busy while she took Sheldon to the mall at the last minute so he could buy a birthday gift for Leonard.

They took so long at the mall that Howard ended up purposely eating a peanut granola bar and having an allergic reaction to keep Leonard at the hospital so he wouldn't go home while Raj was decorating the apartment.
9. What did Leonard's Physics Bowl team call themselves?

Answer: PMS

In "The Bat Jar Conjecture" from season one, after kicking Sheldon off their team because he was a glory hog, Leonard, Howard and Raj named their team Perpetual Motion Squad, or PMS for short. They recruited Leslie Winkle to join their team; she was eager for a chance to take Sheldon down a peg.

Sheldon formed his own team (with random employees from the university, since he planned on answering all the questions himself anyway) and kept the team name he'd originally wanted to use for his team with Leonard, Howard and Raj - Army Ants, or AA for short.
10. What magazine was Raj honoured by, in the second season?

Answer: People

In "The Griffin Equivalency", Raj was selected for "People" magazine's "30 Under 30" (30 visionaries under the age of 30 to watch) list. He had discovered an object in space, dubbed "trans-Neptunian object 2008 NQ17". He was excited at first, and then was a little down when his friends (especially Sheldon, who didn't think Raj had accomplished much) didn't give him the support he'd been looking for.

He soon got a swelled head, though, as other people at the university began to treat him differently and because Penny was excited for him and accompanied him to the reception.

He got drunk (he had to, in order to be able to talk to Penny) and behaved a bit boorishly, and the next day, after apologizing to Penny, Raj went back to his old self.
