Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. She appeared in many "Star Trek: TNG" episodes as the enigmatic El-Aurian bartender in Ten Forward. What was her full name?

Answer: Guinan

The only name ever given for Guinan in all of "Star Trek" lore was simply that: Guinan. The character was somewhere between 500 and 700 years old, and she visited Earth in the late 19th century in an attempt to hide from her father, as seen in the "TNG" episode "Time's Arrow."

2. In the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episode "In The Pale Moonlight", Garak and Sisko arrange for a holorecording to be created to try and convince the Romulans to join the war. Which character is brought aboard to forge the recording.

Answer: Grathon Tolar

Unfortunately, the Romulans were able to determine the recording was a fake. Garak was aware of this, and arranged to destroy the shuttle carrying Senator Vreenak back to Romulus. The imperfections in the recording were therefore deemed to be as a result of the explosion and the Romulan Star Empire joined the war against The Dominion.

3. In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "False Profits", Neelix is surgically altered to look like a Ferengi. What position did he assume?

Answer: Grand Proxy

When the Ferengi checked "The Rules of Acquisition" to see how to deal with the Grand Proxy, they were referred to the 'hopeless situation' section. They therefore made their own rule up: "When the messenger comes to appropriate your profits, kill the messenger!"

Question by Daddy19
4. What was the name of Captain Picard's archaeology professor, who came aboard the Enterprise in the "TNG" episode "The Chase"?

Answer: Galen

Picard declined Richard Galen's offer of exploration, however shortly after Galen leaves in his shuttlecraft it was attacked and the professor died in the Enterprise-D sickbay.

When Picard is captured in the two-part episode "Gambit", he also uses the pseudonym of Galen.

Question by Daddy19.
5. The "DS9" third season episode "The House of Quark" had Quark forced into a marriage with a Klingon woman. What was her name?

Answer: Grilka

Grilka's husband Kozak fell on his own knife in Quark's bar. Because he did have a male heir and did not die honorably, Grilka forced him into a marriage to maintain her hold on the House. After Quark uncovered a 'cowardly' financial attack by a House rival, Gowron awarded leadership of the House to Grilka, and Quark was able get a divorce and return to his life.

Question by reedy.
6. Which of Joseph Sisko's recipes was so secret that he planned to take it to the grave with him?

Answer: Gumbo

Joseph Sisko owned his own restaurant in New Orleans. He was first seen in the episode "Homefront" in which Ben Sisko returned to Earth to discuss the Dominion threat at Starfleet Headquarters.

Gagh is a Klingon delicacy. Gazpacho Soup is a Spanish dish, which is served cold. Guacamole is made from avocados and is from Mexico.

Question by Daddy19.
7. The only time that the Starship Enterprise-C was seen in "TNG" was in the third season episode "Yesterday's Enterprise". What was the name of its Captain?

Answer: Rachel Garrett

Captain Rachel Garrett was played by Tricia O'Neil, whose only other "Star Trek" role was as a Cardassian named Korinas in the "DS9" episode "Defiant".

In "Yesterday's Enterprise", the Enterprise-C is caught in a time-displacement that changes history for the Enterprise-D crew. The storyline also provided an opportunity for Denise Crosby's character Tasha Yar to make a guest reappearance, after her character was killed off in the first season.

Question by reedy.
8. In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Critical Care", the Emergency Medical Hologram was stolen from Voyager and sold to the Dinaali. What was the name of the alien that kidnapped the Doctor?

Answer: Gar

Gar came aboard Voyager by trading iridium ore that he had previously stolen from another species. He feigned illness to gain access to sickbay and replaced the Doctor with barely-working copy. Unfortunately, this was not noticed until Gar was long gone.

9. Of the different "Star Trek" species that begin with the letter G, there was only one that made an appearance in "The Original Series". Kirk faced one of them in single combat in the episode entitled "Arena". What is the name of the species?

Answer: Gorn

The Gorn were the only "G" species that were seen or even mentioned in more than one "Star Trek" series. They appeared in "TOS", were referred to in "TNG" and "DS9", and appeared in "ENT" ("In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II"). Incidentally, they also made an appearance in a "Star Trek: The Animated Series" episode entitled "The Time Trap".

In the course of events, Trelane sentenced Kirk to death for treason, conspiracy, and fomenting insurrection. Fill in the missing word of the title: "The Squire of ________"

Answer: Gothos

Just before Trelane could carry out the sentence on Kirk (hanging), two energy beings appeared and took Trelane in hand. It turned out that Trelane was only a wayward, albeit powerful, child that needed to be disciplined by his parents.
