Question 1 of 10
1. For ten episodes in 2010-11, the E! network gave twelve brides-to-be a chance to win the things every bride longs for - a free dream wedding and lots of plastic surgery. Weekly winners received one procedure from her "wish list" while the top winner of the season received all of her desired plastic surgery. What was this one season wonder that combined romance with liposuction? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Large families make good reality TV, right? "19 Kids & Counting" and "Jon & Kate Plus 8" were highly successful for the TLC network, so why not a show following a rapper with 11 children? "All My Babies' Mamas" was set to star Shawty Lo, his eleven kids and their ten mothers. The plug was pulled, though, due to an online petition campaign and complaints from the NAACP citing stereotyping and glamorization of promiscuity. What network developed, then canned this gem before a single episode aired? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. A select few reality shows are so successful that they become franchises. "The Real Housewives" is one of those lucky ones. Which of these "Real Housewives" installments was the first not to be renewed after its first season? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Twelve men and twelve women are placed in a primitive location where the men must be subservient to the women. The women would vote one man off the show every week and the last manservant standing would win $250,000. Fox thought this idea was good enough to schedule it for their 2007 season. After two delays, the show was dropped without ever airing in the United States. Complete the title of this lost opportunity, "When Women Rule ___
_____" ?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. If you give your new show a name with some negative connotations, you have to be ready for criticism. And Fox was criticized for this 2005 offering which placed an adult who had been adopted as a child in a room with 8 men, one of whom was their natural father. If the contestant could identify their father, they won $100,000. Win or lose, father and child were reunited. Amid a barrage of negative press, public displeasure and complaints from adoption rights groups the first episode aired, finished low in the ratings and the show never made it to the schedule. What was the name of this "one and done"? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. "Who's been nicest to grandpa?" That's pretty much the premise of another failure from 2005. An aging multi-millionaire land developer wants to decide who will inherit his enormous Kansas ranch. Ten potential heirs compete to see who earns the old man's favor. What did CBS call this underperformer? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. An aging actor works to revive his career while helping his daughters launch their show business careers. Somehow the personal life of the former star of "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" didn't catch on with A&E's audience and the show was quickly cancelled. Whose private life lasted only two episodes? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. "Family Forensics UK" aired for one episode in 2005 on Britain's LivingTV channel. A "typical" family was sent on vacation for a weekend while a CSI-type team of forensic and psychological experts dug into every detail of their home and their lives. Possessions, computer files, mail, and trash were all examined. Then when the family returned, they were presented with a psychological profile of themselves. The show was cancelled after one episode but not due to bad ratings. Why was this televised invasion of privacy eliminated? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. A "partially scripted comedy/reality hybrid" is how Fox described this oddity. Bikini model Lauren Jones joined the news staff at a small market TV station in East Texas. Fun may have ensued but ratings did not. After a dismal 2.0 rating for the back-to-back premiere episodes, the show was cancelled. Other than on Fox's website, the remaining six episodes have never shown up. What did Fox call this poorly conceived "hybrid"? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Wrestler Ric Flair salsa dancing. Boxer Joe Frazier singing R&B. Musician Sheila E. juggling with the The Flying Karamazov Brothers. These are just a few of the celebrities we could have seen performing outside their normal field if this 2008 CBS show had lasted an entire season. How sorry are you that we only had access to one episode of "Secret Talents of the _______"? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Bridalplasty

Season winner Allyson Donovan's surgical wish list included a brow-lift, liposuction of the chin, jowls and cheeks, a breast reduction (replaced by a breast lift due to weight loss), tummy tuck, laser skin resurfacing and liposuction of the inner thighs, outer thighs and arms. Her dream wedding included a $2000 dress and a cake valued at $3500.

Answer: Oxygen

Shawty Lo is from Atlanta and a founding member of the hip hop group "D4L". He became a father at age 17 and at the time of "All My Babies' Mamas" development, had nine daughters and two sons. After the show's cancellation, he announced that other, unnamed networks had expressed interest.
3. A select few reality shows are so successful that they become franchises. "The Real Housewives" is one of those lucky ones. Which of these "Real Housewives" installments was the first not to be renewed after its first season?

Answer: The Real Housewives of D.C.

The original "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" appeared on Bravo in 2006. In addition to numerous American "Real Housewives" installments, the franchise has gone international with "Real Housewives" set in Athens, Melbourne, London and other locations around the world. Several spinoffs have also appeared such as "Bethenny Ever After", "Vanderpump Rules" and "I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding".
Complete the title of this lost opportunity, "When Women Rule ___ _____" ?

Answer: The World

Created by the folks who brought us "Joe Millionaire" and "Temptation Island", "When Women Rule..." was later broadcast in Finland and Belgium. A UK version was produced by Channel 4, shot in the Dominican Republic and aired in 2008.

Answer: Who's Your Daddy?

"Insensitive", "offensive" and "destructive" were a few of the descriptions used for the show by adoption advocates. The Fox affiliate in Raleigh, NC declined to carry the show, which ultimately finished fourth in its time slot. Contestant "T.J. Myers" (who had previously appeared in another failed reality show) did correctly identify her natural father.

Answer: The Will

"The Will", developed by the creator of "The Bachelor" was CBS's lowest rated program of the week when it premiered. One of its problems was the makeup of the ten contestants - only three were actually related to the millionaire. The rest were in-laws, friends, stepchildren, and shapely blonds with vague connections to the rich old man. Oh, and the rich guy didn't decide which player was eliminated every week.

The contestants voted on that. All six episodes eventually aired on the Fox Reality Network.

By the way, the rich guy's wife will inherit the ranch when he dies. Surprised?
7. An aging actor works to revive his career while helping his daughters launch their show business careers. Somehow the personal life of the former star of "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" didn't catch on with A&E's audience and the show was quickly cancelled. Whose private life lasted only two episodes?

Answer: David Hasselhoff

"The Hasselhoffs" - David and daughters Taylor-Ann and Hayley - opened with about 718,000 viewers but the second episode dropped to about 500,000 and A&E pulled the plug. All ten taped episodes aired in the UK on The Biography Channel.

Answer: The show's detective had been convicted of child sex crimes.

A month prior to the show's premiere, the team's detective, Michael Brown, was found guilty of six counts of sex offenses. When they learned of the arrest, the network apologized to the public and cancelled the show. The show was remade (minus Brown who by that time was in jail) and aired in 2006.

Answer: Anchorwoman

In addition to modelling, the statuesque Jones was one of "Barker's Beauties" on "The Price Is Right" and a WWE Diva. The Fox program was taped at KYTX in Tyler, Texas which is a CBS affiliate. All references to CBS were eliminated from the shows during production.

Answer: Stars

Hosted by John O'Hurley, winners were chosen by the audience voting online. The first (and only) episode featured Olympic skater Sasha Cohen performing with a Chinese acrobatic troupe, Country singer Clint Black performing stand-up comedy, R&B singer Mya tap dancing and "Star Trek's" George Takei singing Country and Western. Cohen and Black won the voting and would have advanced in the competition had there been more episodes.
