Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When was this classic introduced to the United States?

Answer: 1990

The games were released in Japan, United States, and Europe in 1988, 1990, and 1991 respectively. The year 1993 is irrelevant.
2. Which of the following is NOT a boss in "Super Mario Bros. 3"?

Answer: Cornelius Koopa

Iggy, Roy, and Ludwig Von Koopa, are in worlds 4, 5, and 7 respectively. Unrelated to "Super Mario" trivia, Cornelius is the elephant from the TV show "Babar".
3. The Warp Whistle allows for the player to warp to any world. How many of these are in the game?

Answer: Three

There are two in World One and one in World Two. Others are available with a "GameGenie".
4. One can "go behind the scenes" by holding "down" on a platform. What color does the platform have to be?

Answer: White

This cheat is to be used to access a Warp Whistle in 1-3. This is not a permanent effect.
5. Based on this game, there was a TV series entitled what?

Answer: "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3"

It only lasted from September 8, 1990 through December 1, 1990. There has been, however, another TV series entitled "Super Mario World".
6. Which of the following characters does NOT appear in this game?

Answer: Bowser Jr.

Contrary to popular belief, the bosses in the fortresses are not named Bowser Jr. Also, Larry Koopa is actually a boss in one of the airships.
7. To play "N-Spade" (Memory card game), you must complete the stage with over how many points?

Answer: 80,000

If you manage to get a match, you obtain that item in your inventory. It is even possible to obtain 1-Ups this way.
8. Once in completion of "Super Mario Bros. 3" for the Nintendo Entertainment System, what bonus is given to you?

Answer: 28 P-Wings

Unfortunately, this doesn't happen on "Super Mario All-Stars" for the Super Nintendo. It is much harder to beat the game on its classic system due to the lack of saving.
9. The reception of this game broke a Guinness World Record. Which of these is it?

Answer: Best-selling video game to be sold independently from a console

It actually sold 18.2 million copies. This record was acknowledged in 2008.
10. This historic game was available for how many points on the Wii's Virtual Console?

Answer: 500

Games on this channel typically cost 500 for NES games. It costs 800 and 1000 points for SNES, and N64 games, respectively.
