Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A place where exciting events take place, which video game is VANDAL DENTURE?

Answer: Adventureland

This 1978 game, which was written by Scott Adams and put out by Adventure International, involves the player finding different objects at various locations throughout the game and using them to solve challenges. Once solved, the player then moves onto the next location. There are thirteen objects, or components, to the game.
2. My second self is called EAGLE ROT?

Answer: Alter Ego

This 1986 game was designed by Peter Pavarro and released by Activision. In the game, players have an alter ego that they use to stand in for themselves so that they can view the various results of actions they have their alter ego carry out on their behalf. The alter ego begins as a child and matures throughout the program. The player test out life experiences and their consequences at a safe distance, living them, unharmed, but learning from the various mistakes and unwise choices.

This is how this game is described in the "Computer Gaming World" magazine: "A delightful, humorous and thought-provoking exercise in decision-making, value exploration and evaluation, and vicarious wish-fulfillment".
3. I've forgotten the correct name of the game A SEAM IN. Do you know it?

Answer: Amnesia

Released in 1986 by Electronics Arts, the games involves each player waking up in a strange location, with no memory of how or why they are there. Players soon find out they are wanted for murder and must unravel clues leading to the discovery of how this took place, or if indeed they are innocent.
4. DR PEAL PRICE SPIED an arachnoid after he drank this non-alcoholic beverage. What name am I after?

Answer: Apple Cider Spider

In this 1985 game by Interplay, the player takes on the role of a spider in a factory that manufactures apple cider. Players have to progress through various levels and obstacles placed in their way to reach the level of the factory where all the other spiders are meeting. Ideal to give as a gift for an arachnophobic - if you wanted to frighten that person to death.
5. Alas, we're all living on this. What is BOREDOM WRITE?

Answer: Borrowed Time

The plot of this game which was released in 1985 by Activision is about a detective who must rescue his wife. The little woman, it turns out, has been kidnapped. Of course there are many obstacles along the way for the valiant detective to master. That is part of the fun of the game.
6. Red tape, and yet more red tape with RACY UREA CUB. Can you work this one out?

Answer: Bureaucracy

Infocom released this game in 1987. In it players must work their way through a series of bureaucratic challenges to win. Comically so, the game even includes a simulated image of any the player's blood pressure when challenges are failed or frustrated by obstacles. These include lost mail and other bureaucratic bungles. Too true to life perhaps for some - a little like taking work home on the weekend.
7. My IDEAL END would be peaceful, or at least getting there in time. How about yours?

Answer: Deadline

Published in 1982 and written by Marc Blank, this game is built around a detective investigating what appears to be a suicide in a wealthy family. Complete with suspects and clues, the detective must solve this crime within a certain time limit.
8. BUNGED STEEL - these little insects could find work with a sewerage works, perhaps?

Answer: Dung Beetles

Released in 1982, this is a maze based game. As the protagonist passes through the various stages, a trail of dung is left behind. Along comes a hungry dung beetle, following the trail, and getting closer...and closer...and closer. It would perhaps be inadvisable to let any young child, currently being toilet-trained, view this game.
9. SHAWL OAR is another name for battles between Lucifer and Michael. What would that be?

Answer: Halo Wars

Released in 2009, this game is presented in a war strategy format. Looking down from above on a battlefield, the player, or players can choose various combat strategies to use against an opposing army.
10. CASE POLL is the state many people are in after a hard day's work. What is that state?

Answer: Collapse

Released in 2008, this game is set in the Ukraine, where the city of Kiev has been attacked by inter-dimensional creatures. Not only does the player have to deal with these, but also with other rebellious elements of his own kind, and a mysterious and dangerous villain with world domination in mind.
