Answer: Sega

Sega were the primary developer as they had been given a license by the International Olympic Committee to produce a video game for the 2008 Olympic games. The use of characters from the 'Mario' games was licensed by Nintendo.

Answer: Basketball

There are eight sports, plus the dream events, featured in the game. These are: aquatics, athletics, archery, fencing, gymnastics, rowing, shooting and table tennis. Some of these sports contain multiple events while others have just one event.
3. What swimming style does Luigi use?

Answer: Crawl

Different characters in the game use different swimming styles and the player has to move the Wii remote and nunchuck in a different way depending on the style. Luigi uses crawl which requires the player to move the Wii remote and nunchuck back and forth alternately.
4. How do you earn a character's emblem?

Answer: By completing all six of that character's missions

Each character has six missions to complete which require you to do tasks such as complete an event in a specific time, achieve a certain distance or beat a specific opponent. Once the first five missions have been completed the sixth and final mission is unlocked this is usually a harder requirement than the other five, once this mission has been completed that character's emblem is unlocked in the 'Records' section of the game.

Answer: Trampoline and Vault

You earn the 'Gymnastics Champ Emblem' if you win gold medals in both these events. You can also earn the 'Bouncing Emblem' and the 'Somersault Emblem' for scoring a perfect ten.

Answer: Toad

There are sixteen playable characters in the game featuring a mix of 'Sonic' and 'Mario' game characters. Although the 'Mario' game character Toad does appear in the game it is only as the official who judges whether or not a foul has been committed on take-off in the long jump and triple jump events and not as a playable character.
7. In the 'Gallery' section of the game are a number of mini-games. What can be unlocked by completing these mini-games?

Answer: Trivia, music and an emblem

There are five different mini-games: 'Voice Memory', 'Count Master', 'Card Games', Whack-a-Mole' and 'Bound Ball'. Each has five different levels and completing each level unlocks some trivia about the Olympic games by completing all five levels music from other Sonic and Mario games is unlocked. If all the levels of all five mini-games are completed the player is awarded the 'Gallery Owner Emblem'.
8. How many points are required for a perfect score in the shooting event skeet?

Answer: 40

Skeet is a type of clay pigeon shooting. In the game there are eight different stations from which the player must shoot at a number of targets that fly across the screen scoring one point for each target hit. If all forty targets are hit the player is awarded the 'shooting emblem'.
9. 'Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games' uses the 'Nintendo Wi-fi Connection' function of the Wii?

Answer: True

Although not a major part of the game the 'Nintendo Wi-fi Connection' is used in the 'Records' section to enable players to view records set by players from around the world. This feature also enables players to upload their own records in order to compete with other players as to who has the best record in each event.

Answer: Leipzig Games Convention

'Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games' beat titles including 'Mario Galaxy' to be named best game at the 2007 Leipzig Games Convention. This was also the penultimate time that the convention focused on console games, in 2009 it changed to focusing on browser games due to the games industry preferring to attend a new convention in Cologne called Gamescon.

The Leipzig Games Convention has not been held since 2010.
