Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What nickname did the people of Rapture call Subject Delta from 'BioShock 2' before he became a Big Daddy?

Answer: Johnny Topside

Delta earned the nickname 'Johnny Topside' by discovering Rapture in a diving suit. Stanley Poole, a slimy reporter, sold him out to Andrew Ryan. He was imprisoned in Persephone, a high security prison, then given to Big Daddy experiments and rented out to Plasmid testing trials by Augustus Sinclair.
2. What are the main melee weapons for 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2'?

Answer: Wrench and Drill

In 'BioShock', when you first exit the Bathysphere, your ally, 'Atlas', tells you to find some sort of 'metal pipe' or a blunt object. Jack finds a wrench and uses it to bust through the debris blocking the doorway so he can leave the area and escape the Spider Splicer hunting him. This weapon has become almost iconic for the series.

Subject Delta is equipped from the beginning of the game onward with his drill. Much like in 'BioShock', Subject Delta must burst through a coral covered door in order to progress. It is detachable and can spin when equipped. Sadly, it has less recognition than the wrench.
3. NOT including Elite versions, how many types of Big Daddies are in 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2'?

Answer: Five

There are five known types of big daddies in 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2'. Alpha Series, Bouncers, Rosies, Rumblers, and Lancers. Most Big Daddies have had their organs and various other body parts placed in the suit.

Bouncers have an Elite version, with and without red accents in both games. These are the only Elite versions known. Lancers only appear in the 'BioShock 2' DLC.

Alpha Series are the only exception to being surgically grafted into the Protector suits. They have permanent bonds to their Little Sister, and will either die or go crazy. Subject Delta encounters these insane Alpha Series Protectors in Fontaine Futuristics.
4. What color dress do the Little Sisters in 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2' NOT wear?

Answer: White

Little Sisters are ADAM harvesters. ADAM is a gene altering drug, allowing scientists to engineer things called Plasmids. They give you something akin to super powers. Little Sisters were created to make up for ADAM loss. After mental conditioning they had ADAM slugs implanted in their stomach lining. As such, they've been mentally conditioned to sniff out corpses, which, due to the conditioning, they see as 'angels'.

This is very pronounced in the section of 'BioShock 2' where Eleanor Lamb lets you take control of a Little Sister in order to escape. Everything is golden and shiny. ADAM corpses are well-dressed sleeping people, constantly surrounded by bright blue butterflies and rose petals.

Little Sisters have purple, pink, blue, green, orange, and red dresses. Pink and red only appear in 'BioShock 2'.
5. What is the underwater city which 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2' take place called?

Answer: Rapture

Rapture is an underwater city, made by Andrew Ryan in the 1900s. The philosophy the city was built on was based off the works of Ayn Rand, whom Andrew Ryan was named for.

The others are synonyms of rapture, basically things and places that mean perfection.

Utopia, specifically, is also involved in the series. In the second game Sofia Lamb, mother of Eleanor Lamb, believes that ADAM can make a Utopian person, trained to work for others and the common good; and that after this, Utopia would follow. She tried this on a willing colleague, Gil Alexander. The experiment went horribly wrong.

Gil started to mutate, turning insane. He called himself Alex the Great, and lived in a deep sea tank. He is the main boss during the Fontaine Futuristics level. In the end you can choose to kill him or let him live. The ending varies on choices such as this.

After Gil's failure she tried it on Eleanor. She believed that because Eleanor used to be a Little Sister she could withstand the massive ADAM treatments. Eleanor was unwilling to do this, and you the player have to rescue her as her Big Daddy, Subject Delta.
6. Who is the main boss in the area Fort Frolic from 'BioShock'?

Answer: Sander Cohen

Sander Cohen is an artist, but irrevocably sadistic and mad. Even before the Rapture civil war he was insane. He was still very high up on the social ladder, personally knowing Andrew Ryan.

He also mentored people, calling them his disciples. That's where the player comes in. Sander Cohen hijacks your Bathysphere, trapping you. In order to leave Fort Frolic you have to kill his old disciples and give him pictures of their corpses for his 'Quadtych'.
7. What is Brigid Tenenbaum seen doing throughout 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2' games?

Answer: Protecting Little Sisters

Brigid Tenenbaum helped create the Little Sisters. Down the line she realized what they were doing was wrong, and after chaos broke out about the civil war she went into hiding. She saved Little Sisters, planning to take them to the surface, even nicknaming them 'little ones'. She even gives the player a Plasmid that cures the Sisters.

In 'BioShock 2' Tenenbaum returns to Rapture years later due to little girls being snatched away near the ocean. She rescues as many new Little Sisters as she can before heading to the surface once more. Before she leaves she entrusts the player, Subject Delta, in Augustus Sinclair's hands.
8. What are the AMMO vending machines called in the 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2' games?

Answer: El Ammo Bandito

El Ammo Bandito machines are the only place you can buy special ammo. The machine activates when you come near it, saying it's name before gunshots are heard.

The other item vending machine is the Circus of Value. It doesn't sell special ammo, but it sells food, regular ammo, EVE Hypos, and First Aid kits.
9. What brings the trees in Arcadia back to life in 'BioShock'?

Answer: The Lazarus Vector

At one point in the game during your time in Arcadia you have to invent The Lazarus Vector. Andrew Ryan leaked something into the air to rot the trees, and the only cure is The Lazarus Vector. It was thought of by scientist Julie Langford as a way to bring plants back to life.
10. What is used to charge Plasmids in 'BioShock' and 'BioShock 2'?

Answer: EVE Hypos

ADAM Slugs were found by Brigid Tenenbaum after she heard the story of a dock worker whose hand was miraculously healed after he handled a sea slug. A business man named Frank Fontaine funded her to discover what else these slugs could do. She and other associates discovered they could be manipulated into formulas they named Plasmids.

These formulas changed your genetic formula to let you do insane things, like turning your arm into a beehive you can shoot bees out of, firing icicles, or lobbing fireballs.

They were designed to be recharged by a formula called EVE. These can be found around the game area, they are called EVE Hypos. You can also buy them or loot them from corpses.
