Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nancy traveled to Europe to serve as maid of honor at a wedding to be held at the hauntingly dilapidated Castle Malloy. What European country did Nancy travel to for this adventure?

Answer: Ireland

Castle Malloy, located in Bailor, Ireland, was partially destroyed in 1944 by an explosion that killed its owner, Brendan Malloy, his wife, Caitlin, and their daughter, Fiona. Many rumors surrounded Brendan Malloy and the happenings at the castle.
2. Who was the bride that Nancy was to serve as maid of honor for?

Answer: Kyler

Kyler Tegan Mallory was raised in London, but her family had inherited Castle Malloy recently. After researching her family history, she discovered that the former owner of the castle, Brendan Malloy, was her grandfather's brother, who was, among other things, suspected of being a double-agent during World War II.
3. Exactly, how was Nancy acquainted with the bride?

Answer: The bride was an exchange student who stayed with Nancy and her dad in the USA.

Kyler stayed with Nancy and her father in America on an exchange student program. She explained to Nancy that she had met her fiancé soon after she returned home to London from her exchange trip in the USA.
4. After finally getting inside the castle to talk to the bride, Nancy was informed that the groom had disappeared. Although the bride believed that the disappearance was all part of some elaborate prank the groom had contrived, she asked Nancy to look for him. What was the name of the missing groom?

Answer: Matt

Matthew William Simmons, the groom, was known to be quite a prankster. Although Kyler adamantly felt that Matt had simply disappeared before the wedding to get a reaction from her, she still wanted Nancy to find him so they could get on with the wedding plans.
5. During Nancy's investigation, she learned some things about the groom's relationships with his friends. Was the missing groom's best friend scheduled to stand up for him as best man at the wedding?

Answer: No

Matt refused to have his best friend, Kit Foley, stand up as his best man because he felt that Kit still had feelings for Kyler, his bride. (Kit and Kyler had dated briefly before Kyler and Matt started dating.) Taking a diplomatic approach, Matt told Kit that it would be better for his work relations to pick someone that he worked with to be his best man, which he did.
6. According to the wedding program that Nancy had found, who was listed as the best man?

Answer: Alan Paine

After talking to Kyler and Kit, Nancy discovered that Alan Paine left Malloy Castle because he was tired of hearing all of the fighting before the wedding. When Nancy called Alan at home, he told her about the multiple fights and that when Matt disappeared, he decided it was best to return home until the groom was located.
7. The caretaker was a strange and superstitious little man. He told Nancy that fairies had taken the groom away to stop the wedding and that he would never be seen again. What was the caretaker's name?

Answer: Donal Delaney

Donal did not like the proposed groom because he was not Irish and he felt that Kyler, who was Irish by blood, should only marry someone with an Irish background. Donal explained to Nancy that local legend spoke of fairies and banshees who would change the outcome of situations to fit their fancy, like the non-Irish groom being taken just before the wedding.
8. On multiple occasions, Nancy had to meet with the caretaker to obtain information important to her investigation. What was the name of the little tavern in town that Nancy visited to meet with the caretaker?

Answer: Screaming Banshee Inn

While at the tavern, Nancy also earned money while mixing drinks for Seamus, the barkeeper, played the drums, and played two games in the back corner of the bar to earn money and prizes. Outside the front door of the tavern was the payphone Nancy used to call the best man, Alan Paine, her boyfriend, Ned, and her best friends, George and Bess.
9. What were the names of the two games that Nancy played, in the tavern, to earn prizes and coins?

Answer: Darts Away and Difference Detective

"Darts Away" was a tavern dart game where the objective was to have a score of zero after all the darts were thrown. "Difference Detective" was a game where the player was shown two pictures on the screen and had to locate the differences between the two pictures before the timer stopped.
10. Who was ultimately discovered to be the phantom banshee that had caused the groom to disappear, as well as cause the other strange occurrences around Castle Malloy?

Answer: Fiona Malloy

Unknown to anyone at Malloy Castle, Fiona Malloy (daughter of Brendan Malloy, the previous owner of Malloy Castle) had not died in the explosion in 1944 that had killed her parents. She had been found and raised by a strange old man that lived in the bog near the castle, and never associated with anyone after he had passed away.
