General Foods was founded in 1895 as the Postum Cereal Company by Charles William Post. It became General Foods in 1929. Post introduced Grape Nuts in 1897 and Post Toasties in 1907. General Foods purchased the Jell-O Company in 1925, Log Cabin Products in 1927, Maxwell House in 1928, the Birdseye frozen foods company in 1929, Perkins Products (maker of Kool-Aid) in 1953, the maker of Gevalia coffee in 1971, and Oscar Mayer in 1981. Philip Morris then acquired General Foods in 1985 and combined it with Kraft in 1988 to create Kraft General Foods. "General Foods" was dropped from the corporate name in 1990 and today only applies to Kraft's instant coffee subdivision called General Foods International.

Founded in 1979, GCI provides communications services for most of Alaska, including cable TV, internet, and telephone services, both digital cable and wireless. It is listed on NASDAQ as GNCMA.

William F. O'Neil founded General Tire in Akron in 1915. In 1987 it was sold to Continental AG, a German tire manufacturer. It still exists as General Tire as part of Continental's American operations and is often seen as a sponsor of various athletic or motor sports events, such as "King of the Cage" mixed martial arts competitions.

The General Automobile Insurance Services, Inc., began selling its auto insurance in 1963. For 77 years, from 1931 to 2007, GM led global auto sales, but in 2009 it went into bankruptcy, despite ranking second in world sales for three years between 2008 and 2010. The company emerged from bankruptcy after only a month and returned to the top spot in world sales in 2011.

In 1896 the keel of the "USS Holland", the U.S. Navy's first submarine, was laid down by the Holland Torpedo Boat Company. That company was sold in 1899 and renamed the Electric Boat Company. After the turn of the century, Holland boats were sold to Japan, Russia, the British, and the Dutch.

In 1946 Electric Boat's owner, John Jay Hopkins purchased Canadair, a Canadian aircraft manufacturer. In 1952, after having branched out beyond the building of just submarines, Electric Boat became General Dynamics. Today the corporation is the world's fifth-largest defense contractor.

Its four main components include Combat Systems, Marine Systems, Information Technology, and Aerospace.

General Growth Properties is a real estate investment trust that owns 120 shopping malls in forty states. Founded in 1954 as General Mangement by brothers Martin and Matthew Bucksbaum, they opened their first two shopping malls in Cedar Rapids and Bettendorf, Iowa.

In 1970 it became General Growth Properties. After filing for bankruptcy in April of 2009, it left bankruptcy eighteen months later and today owns the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, the largest open-air shopping mall in the world.

Originally founded in 1925 in Idaho as "General Mines Corporation," General Moly today is engaged in the exploration, development and mining of molybdenum, an emphasis which began in 2003 with the rise in metal prices, especially in that of molybdenum.

It adopted the name "General Moly" in 2007. The company owns two major projects, both located in Nevada. The Mt. Hope Project is one of the world's largest molybdenum development projects in the world. The Liberty Project involves the development of both molybdenum and copper resources.

General Mills was founded in 1928 with the merger of 27 mills based in Minneapolis, with the largest going back to 1856 and the incorporation of the Minneapolis Milling Company.

Among the brands produced by General Mills are cereals such as Cheerios, several Chex cereals, Fiber One, Kix, Lucky Charms, Trix, and Wheaties. Other food brands under the General Mills umbrella include Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Bisquick, Gardetto's, Green Giant, Hamburger Helper, and Chex Mix.
10. Highland Heights, Kentucky

Answer: General Cable Corporation

Founded in 1927 in New Jersey by merging several older companies such as Phillips Wire, Rome Wire, and Standard Underground Cable, General Cable manufactures cable from copper, aluminum, and optical fibers. Its Kentucky headquarters has been operating since 1992.
